Watching local coverage of Detective Wenjian Liu's funeral. NBC reporter mentioned dozen of officers in front of the church turned their backs when De Blasio spoke but further down the road there were hundreds who turned their back.
Guess the mayor really dug a deep ditch...

I can see though, that the comments by Bratton about not turning their backs had an effect. At the first funeral it was every officer I saw. Here it appears to be very mixed.
I understand why the Officers have been doing this, but they need to cool it. They are about to overplay this hand, in the same way the protestors did with those ridiculous Die-Ins and Road Blocks.
I keep saying, if I was writing this story with these characters, in the next chapter, I would show the defiant Socialist Mayor simply firing scores and scores of Officers for insubordination, and maintaining a mutinous, disruptive work environment. That’s how he (deBlasio) would chose to see it.
You know, at some point people are going to have to man up and do something about the liberal fascism in this country. And guess what? There may be a cost to standing up.

He would let DeBlahblah macerate his police in public speech and then there should be no repercussions about it? It is BRATTON who should have taken DeBlahblah to task on behalf of his officers, not shake his finger at them to warn them off from returning DeBlahblah’s disrespect.
