Florida State players had their cars keyed and tires slashed

Florida State Seminoles players returned from the Rose Bowl to find their cars keyed and their tires slashed.

The Florida State Seminoles carried a 29-game win streak into the Rose Bowl match up against the No. 2 Oregon Ducks on Thursday. The game serving as a semi-final match up for the first ever College Football Playoff.

The defending national champion Seminoles felt disprespected to be seeded despite and undefeated 2014 regular season. That ranking looked fair after Oregon handily defeated the Seminoles in the Rose Bowl, 59-20.

It was an embarrassing loss for the Seminoles, but an impressive victory for the Ducks.

As for Florida State fans and faithful, they took the loss rather harshly. When the Seminoles returned home, they found their cars had been vandalized.

Freshman linebacker Anthony Valdes tweeted about the condition in which they found their cars.

Winning a national championship in college football is incredibly difficult, and repeating is even harder. It is pretty ridiculous for the fans to lose their minds and act out like a bunch of spoiled brats after things don’t go their way.

It wasn’t like they were Oklahoma losing to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl years ago. There is no shame in losing to Oregon, a school that has been a perennial contender and nearly defeated the Auburn Tigers several years ago for a national championship during Cam Newton’s college days.

But as we’ve all seen on Twitter, the Florida State fans aren’t always the most reasonable and logic fans so maybe this is on me for being shocked by this behavior.

The lawyers think they can get money from the settlement with Washington. (The Seminole tribe is happy with Florida State and to many lawyers do protect their Alma Mater, Stanford, from the petty law suits they dish out).

Forgot about that.

I think way back in the 70s they dumped the Indian logo.

Pathetic polical correctness even back then.

I followed your lead about the Stanford Indians but Stanford still protects their own.

Most sports fans don’t have a life. Why don’t they do something productive?

To me, they’re the Stanford Indians. And they’re going to get massacred when they come to the LA Memorial Coliseum on September 19.

Trying to win a championship Phases

1. Wild enthusiasm

2. Disillusionment

3. Confusion

4. Panic

5. Search for the guilty

6. Punishment of the innocent

7. Promotion of non-participants

This is rather tame when compared with what we did when I attended university.

We had an invocation and sang the national anthem before the game and we stood and sang “Dixie” at half time and we flew the beautiful Stars and Bars next to the beautiful Stars and Stripes.

And we all playfully referred to one another as either a Damn Yankee or a F’n Rebel and all were proud of that connotation.

It was cool to see McElwain tailgating with the fans before today’s game. I like the guy already.

I think McElwain will do well if given time. The coaching game is ramping up. The Big Ten East alone has Franklin, Dantonio, Meyer, and Harbaugh. Probably nearly $25M/year in pay in just those four.

I also sense that Saban is bored or discouraged that things aren’t rigged in his favor any longer. He may be gone in another year or two to the NFL again.

I read that LSU wants PSU DC Shoop for over $1M/year. I think he did a good job, but PSU defensive success isn’t dependent on him. Hell, Tom Bradley makes $500K at WVU for doing the same thing.

It could be worse. The losers of the Mayan ball games were ritually sacrificed. You sort of wanted to read the fine print when you accepted an athletic scholarship in Mesoamerica...

29 game winning streak in the ACC. I think it’s been shown to be a bit of a house of cards. Other than Ga Tech no one other than FSU strikes fear in anyone from the ACC.

If Ga Tech played them tomorrow they’d beat them by 2 TD’s.
