For those of you who are thinking it couldn't possibly get any worse, I present to you the Joe Bastardi two-week outlook.
TOPICS: Weather
KEYWORDS: climate; globalwarming; joebastardi; weather
On New Year's Day morning, in my neck of the Southern California high desert, it reached a low of 17.4 F. I don't know if that's a record. I don't care. In absolute terms, it was freaking cold.

Here in west central Florida, it’s been miserably hot and wet. We hit 81 on the porch thermometer yesterday, and it’s been humid to boot.
Looking forward to some cold weather, so I can get up in the attic and do some work.

Even here in the low desert of the Coachella Valley, we were 33, and a bit lower/east in Thermal the pepper crop got decimated due to 21 degrees.

Warm-ish today, a little snow this morning and highs in the low 30’s. But THEN - more snow and temps this week not even reaching ZERO some days - deadly wind chills, too, -15 to -20.
I knew it was coming - I’m as prepared as I can be with a newly insulated attic and crawl space under the porch - but I’m NEVER ready for those kind of temps.
Love snow, though! Snowshoes are on the back porch, ready to go! :)

My son sent me a picture of the low hills around Camp Pendleton that were covered in snow. We didn’t get snow here. It came close; Lucerne Valley got some, and of course Big Bear.

I hope he’s right as he shows temps slightly above normal on the western slope of Colorado over the next couple of weeks.

JB predicts very cold & snowy weather this week in the northern mid-west to east.
Since I'll be driving through all that, it means first when stopped, plug in the old diesel's engine-block heater and second, on the road, take it real easy on the accelerator.
That's good to know.
Thanks Joe.
