A teenager who was bullied by online trolls posted a heartbreaking video on YouTube before killing himself, an inquest heard.
Adam Smith, 19, who had learning difficulties, was bombarded with spiteful remarks and accused of plagiarism over a short story he put on a website.
In response to the vicious bullying, he posted a video on YouTube entitled Im sorry where he apologised for any misunderstanding.
But he was lambasted again by cruel users, who mocked him saying his speech problems were so bad it made them laugh.
Days later he was seen crying as he walked to a railway line near his home, where he was hit by a two-carriage train.

I have been in social situations where people claimed bullying in school made you stronger. Those people were ALWAYS in the jock and normal sets. Other people who were smaller, or had any interests outside the mainstream, they always said high-school was miserable.

So. A mentally disturbed young man who has learning disabilities is a pussy?
I imagine you two are happy and glad he’s dead, right?

Well, and see, I can take that. I smile, try to find a retort and move on.
However, the article is illustrating those that are far more serious and have severe coping issues.
There’s a complex relationship between ‘hard love’ and ‘bullying’.

Japanese prison guards in WW2 did some horrific things and justified it because anyone dishonorable enough to surrender must deserve it. Justifying brutality, even of a psychological nature, and blaming the victim is despicable.

The mentally ill deserve our compassion and help. There’s a big difference between having a defect in one’s brain and being a weak, silly, ineffectual fool. This poor guy’s brain was badly wired up.

Please, don't think that of me. I was throwing out the dominant thought I find here on FR, which is a little unfortunate. I actually enjoy the show, was struck upon it by my own children. Its better than the vast majority of modern cartoons.
I was just looking for the gamut of opinion, and relaying the likely response.

Our peers and fathers are what made us men. This is a normal part of social integration as we grow up. If you were a sissy, you got called out and treated like one. It's how we made real men. It's a brutal process for the weak, but IMHO, an effective way to form social norms. People quite often cross lines now since the internet gives them the ability to say things they wouldn't if faced with physical consequences. And that is where the whole thing goes wrong. We learned boundaries by dealing with people face to face. You knew everyone had a line that wasn't to be crossed unless you were ready to face the inevitable. Where I grew up, picking on a retarded kid got your ass kicked and made you a pariah. There is no such threat for the internet trolls.
I guess my point is, if you have a child that has mental issues, the internet is not the place for them to socialize. These people have no boundaries, no remorse, and face no consequences.

The responses here make me sick.
My God, have some compassion!
All you are worried about is whether he is “man” enough?
Frankly, I don’t care if he was all “normal”, not having speech or mental problems. There is no call for harassment and calling him names. Easy to do behind the safety of a screen.
Perhaps he could’ve been a bit more secure in himself, to tell these “manly” people to shove it, and keep doing what he wishes and ignore them.
Big deal. It’s not the end of the world he likes MPP. And he is only 19, not 39.
Poor guy. He was probably quite sensitive. No wonder.

“Some societal examination. Whether or not we are dealing with the mentally ill properly, or are a generation of pussies. Looking at some Freeper input.”
We didn’t have internet bullies in my day. When I was a kid they actually punched you out and took your stuff. It was because of bullies that I learned the most important thing when dealing with situations like that, smack the crap out of them first thing and keep on going till it’s over.

Actually, this guy was a Brony. I am sure there must be other males on the ‘net who also loved that show.
Problem here also seems to be he was booted for alleged plagiarism, so regardless of finding common ground, he was still rejected.

BTW, how is he mentally ill?
Only references were learning handicaps and speech problems. That is NOT “mentally ill”.
