The country's top five theater circuits have decided not to play Sony's The Interview, a knowledgeable source tells The Hollywood Reporter.
Regal Entertainment, AMC Entertainment, Cinemark, Carmike Cinemas and Cineplex Entertainment have all decided against showing the film.
Carmike Cinemas confirmed its decision to drop the film on Tuesday. The other chains did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Sony also had no immediate comment.

But I might check this one out. When Netflix picks it up of course.
Enough people will watch it just based on the stars alone for it to make a profit. Like them or not, they are pretty “bankable” nowadays.
They did one portraying the assassination of Bush. 2006. Called "Death of a President". Of course, it was British, not directly from Hollywood, but of the same ilk.
“I guess the cheese eating Kim has no sense of humor.”
This is bigger than Kim.
Eggs-Zactly!
I don’t understand the brou-ha-ha over who is upset or why. But this is about to be the most talked about movie of the year.
I wouldn't say that. The average joe doesn't endanger his life simply by going to work. Teen ushers haven't signed up to become targets. By going to the theater, you are exposing yourself to danger once. People who work there have to deal with it every day. It's not the corporate execs who are under threat - it's the rank and file. You might think Kim Jong-Un is a joke, but North Korean assassination teams are not a joke.
Frankly, I am surprised Team America got made. Showbiz figures can't be recluses. They are easy targets. Any determined and reasonably intelligent assassin on a one-way mission can kill them. A team of assassins could wipe out their families in coordinated strikes.
If it becomes a cult favorite, so what? It's a real-life Mouse That Roared.
Hoping that Pacific Theaters ends up showing the movie. I know a projectionist who works at the local theater he said management told him today that they are undecided about showing it. People are making a fuss about nothing, nothing is going to happen..and besides, I don’t know why North Korea is making such a fuss this movie looks like garbage anyway
Um, a movie was made about assassinating GW. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_a_President_(2006_film) Nothing happened to those who made the movie...
Or just leak a copy somewhere in China. It will be cloned and mass distributed around the world in a week.
Let the little Nork dance with the Chinese if he wants to...
What I meant was that should it have been showing at my local theater, I was going to see it. But my theater is one of the cancelled chains —now I can’t.
I have nothing against ushers, ticket-takers, grips, set people, etc.
This is why switching to digital projection was a BAD idea...at least a physical print, in a package posted to the theatre, would show obvious signs of tampering.
I didn’t know that. Very appalling.
A semi loaded with fuel oil explosives could kill hundreds or thousands on a Saturday night. North Korean hit squads are known for their determination and skill. While this kind of attack might invite devastating retaliation from the US military up to and including the defenestration and execution of Kim Jong-un, that's small comfort for the theater chain affected, which would be subject to lawsuits and potential judgments far exceeding the profitability of a single film. Ultimately, they make money off concession stand sales. Why risk an attack that could cost them tens of millions when there are plenty of other films for their audience to watch?
Yeah so I am hearing. I think that is horrible.
“it will still make a profit in rentals and DVD sales.”
If they do this right, don’t make a fuss, no hype and just quietly put the DVD on the market, it’ll become one of the top selling DVDs in history thanks to the Norks. I was planning on seeing the movie, it looked funny in a juvenile sort of way without the pointless, excessive, gratuitous seximus maximus.
Spot on Godfather! That's the lesson they'll take away from this. It works so why not try it over and over. No downside!
