Does a Wreath Mean Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?
Boston Globe ^ | Megan Turchi

A Boston woman is asking the city of Boston to include a menorah next to the wreaths at the Boston Public Library.

According to WHDH, Esther Weissman considers a wreath to be a symbol of Christmas. “The wreaths are a seasonal display; they are secular symbols and do not represent any religion,” the Boston Public Library said in a statement to CBS Boston.

Weissman thinks otherwise.

“If this is a city of inclusion and diversity and fairness for everybody, then it seems like an easy thing to do,” Weissman told WHDH.

Ah, it begins. A wreath is now a Christian symbol.
Muslims never complain about Christian symbols scattered over the cities and towns. I wonder why not. Perhaps it's just not important to them.

I think Christmas trees came from pagans who worshipped the god Odin.

As a Christian I have no problem with that at all. However,I'd draw the line at “Kwanza” decorations or any decoration connected to the Religion of Pieces.

I have some stupid questions. Bear with me please?

What’s with this business of being inclusive and celebrating diversity and all that?

About 94% of Americans celebrate Christmas. Not that this huge percentage are devout Christians, or are Christians at all, but just that this big number of people celebrate a holiday called Christmas, and call the holiday by the name of Christmas. Christmas is one of the most unifying events in our culture. So why is there a need to bend over backwards to say, what about that remaining 6%, they feel excluded and all that???

Which leads me to another point and another stupid question. Why is it okay to call the Gay Pride Parade the Gay Pride Parade?? Based on the liberal logic on Christmas, since not everyone is gay and not everyone celebrates gay pride, don’t the rest of us feel excluded or offended by the mention of the Gay Pride Parade?? Yet nobody ever talks about the issue of gay pride excludes big number of people. ON that issue, liberal and radical types do not care that it is not inclusive and a unifying event.

I would not mind a menorah there at all.

But should I spy the loathsome symbol of Islam, we’re talking some midnight vandalism.

To me the term: “Happy Holidays” is just the liberal world getting round not having to say “Merry Christmas” -

Not so stupid-

The “PC” crowd has 1 goal in their pathetic life-

To deny the Existence of God-

And to curse and mock Jesus, the Apostles, Mary-
anything relating to Christianity -

This is because their heart and mind has gone over to
satan and has rejected good

The origins of the Advent wreath are found in the folk practices of the pre-Christian Germanic peoples who, during the cold December darkness of Eastern Europe, gathered wreaths of evergreen and lighted fires as signs of hope in a coming spring and renewed light

Wreaths are pagan. if the library adds a menorah they owe us a crèche.

From Ms. Weissman’s point of view, they ARE Christian, since they are not Jewish symbols of Hannukhah.

From the time I was a young child, ‘Christmas wreaths’ have hung from many a front door, across America, and hung with glee.

For a politician to call them ‘secular’, would mean that they represent any and all faiths celebrated in the same time frame.

Wreaths are pagan and have no meaning.

This lady is an idiot and probably related to Barney Frank.

Treat it like an “inside joke”...

I avoid giving them the “pleasure” of getting under my skin, if you get my drift.

And therein lies the problem. We cannot have the moral high ground in this argument if we too are going to take it upon ourselves to decide how others want to celebrate their holiday.

I think the cross came from pagans who worshiped the god Jupiter.
