With just a day to go before the new Bond announcement, a newly- surfaced interview with Daniel Craig from 2012 may shed some light on where the series might be headed. When Craig was hired to help reboot James Bond, he knew that he wanted to make a serious film both because he is a serious actor, and because a certain other spy spoof had made it impossible to do a goofy 007.
"We had to destroy the myth because Mike Myers f-ed us," the actor told Bond fan publication MI6, referring to Myers remarkably successful Austin Powers series. I am a huge Mike Myers fan, so dont get me wrong, but he kind of f-ed us, made it impossible to do the gags.

“That really hurt! I’m going to have a lump there, you idiot. Who throws a shoe? Honestly. You fight like a woman”.

The humor is the best part of the earlier Bond films. Today, all movies are about special effect and action. Bond followed suit to a large extent. I was not a big fan of Brosnan as 007..he’s too effeminate. Good guy and actor, but not masculine. Craig seems to be a good Bond, but I can’t get into these recent movies.
“I am James Bond”
Maybe he should only speak English English in the next Bond flick!

I think that society will not get fixed until we Get Serious. Drop the jokes, focus on serious matters and have high expectations for people. For me, that means a return to a Christian Worldview. It's the one thing the Left is very afraid of. And so ... they make with the jokes.
Sean Connery had humor, but Roger Moore brought cartoonish camp to the role (Jaws, Sheriff J.W. Pepper, etc.) If Daniel Craig wants to blame anyone for a ‘serious’ Bond, he can blame Mat Damon and his Bourne movies for raising the action bar.
Nonsense. There were countless spy spoofs showing right along with the original Bond series. In fact every single schtick in Meyer’s films was ripped off from Matt Helm, Flint, etc...
Dr. Evil is the equal of any.
Saul Alinsky smiles...(from hell)
I was skeptical about Craig as Bond, mainly because I grew up with Connery and Moore, but the new ones are my favorites -- by a long shot. I still love the oldies, but Craig rocks as Bond, and I really appreciate a more serious 007. I hope he continues with the role for quite a while.
He’s right. I see a bond movie now, and I immediately think of Austin Powers (and Liz Hurley...)
My two favs were Pussy Galore and Nurse Goodhead.
Compared to Timothy Dalton, Brosnan is Conan the Barbarian.
Very few people ever name David Niven in the list of James Bond actors (much less Woody Allen as James Bond, Jr.).
