Is Beiber really going to be the next Bond?

The humor is the best part of the earlier Bond films. Today, all movies are about special effect and action. Bond followed suit to a large extent. I was not a big fan of Brosnan as 007..he’s too effeminate. Good guy and actor, but not masculine. Craig seems to be a good Bond, but I can’t get into these recent movies.

I'm going to throw this open to a much wider canvas -- We live in a very Ironic age. Nothing is taken seriously. Everything is a joke. And although we see problems, we feel frustration that nothing ever gets fixed.
I think that society will not get fixed until we Get Serious. Drop the jokes, focus on serious matters and have high expectations for people. For me, that means a return to a Christian Worldview. It's the one thing the Left is very afraid of. And so ... they make with the jokes.

The only Bond I liked was the David Niven incarnation in the first Casino Royale, which is the only Bond movie I liked.

Nonsense. There were countless spy spoofs showing right along with the original Bond series. In fact every single schtick in Meyer’s films was ripped off from Matt Helm, Flint, etc...

James Bond villains were always the best part -- Dr. No, Lotte Lenya, Goldfinger, etc.
Dr. Evil is the equal of any.

He’s right. I see a bond movie now, and I immediately think of Austin Powers (and Liz Hurley...)

IMO, Daniel Craig himself is the ONLY reason the Bond movies have become so heavy and serious. I became an Ian Fleming/Bond aficionado in the early '70s. Craig would make a great villain, but he was and remains a terrible pick for 007. God help ud, even Moore and Dalton were better Bonds.
At least they didn't bring their massive egos into the equation the way Craig presumes to do, and they (along with Sean Connery, the best, and even Brosnan, who was surprisingly good) had that air of instinctive refinement and culture that was very much a part of 007 as Fleming wrote him; Craig is coarse, base, and crude no matter how fancy the tux he's wearing; the "real" 007 was classy and elegant even in rags as he was slitting a bad guy's throat from ear to ear.
I thought this after seeing Craig's premiere as Bond -- and feel it triply as I've learned since that Craig is a screaming anti-gun leftist.
Ian Fleming would be rolling over in his grave if he saw how badly Hollywood botched 007 in the 21st Century.

Daniel Craig should be happy, his Casino Royale was the best bond film ever IMHO.

What were they ready to go back to the ridiculous clown show Bond of the Roger Moore era? I don’t believe the franchise could survive that a second time, certainly not for me. Thank God we got Connery before the smarmy, effete Moore.

Daniel Craig looks like he is sucking lemons. A sourpuss.

There is a four episode series on Netflix, titled “Fleming,” which is worth watching.

I actually enjoyed the serious take on Casino Royale, being the first bond book I read. The serious bond is actually closer to the character of the books. The 60s and 70s ruined bond by adding the cheesy flavor of the time.
