Column: Washington State gun owners to defy new gun law

Thousands of gun owners plan to openly violate a new state firearms law next month in Olympia, Washington, daring local police to stop or arrest them.

The massive display of civil disobedience — perhaps one of the largest acts ofGavin Seim

lawlessness ever organized — is the brainchild of Gavin Seim, a self-described “liberty speaker” and former congressional candidate from Washington State.

Seim, and the thousands of participants expected to attend the “I Will Not Comply” rally Dec. 13, will be protesting the passage of I-594, a state ballot initiative that becomes law in the The Evergreen State Dec. 4.

Reportedly over 5000 have SAID they'll be there. I guess we'll have to wait until 12/13 to see who do and who don't. All I can tell them is please don't do anything that might cause you to become a permanent member of the prohibited list.

An attitude that needs to be rekindled.

The objective of excessive laws isn’t that we are compelled to comply, though the Left is happy if that’s the case. The objective is the ability to arrest you at any time for anything they darned well please.

A friend got arrested, arrested for burning his household garbage. Although he did not violate a law passed by elected legislators at any level, he was fined for violating a regulation. Did you know you could go to prison for catching too many fish? Or, the wrong size fish? Or, fish after a certain date? Prison. This isn’t a law, it’s a regulation. Do you know how many regulations there are requiring prison time? Nobody does. But estimates range into the thousands. Somebody said every American is now violating the law at least 15 minutes per day.

I think I’m violating about 15/min. If I keep it up, they’ll be violating me in no time. ;>}

From what I have read, disobeying the new law is enough to get you on the prohibited persons list.

I did link the flow chart and someone else posted the flow chart so you can “maybe” figure out when you go directly to jail and do NOT collect $200. I think this link works.

It opens small so you have to use the little magnifying thingy. First diamond on the uppper left says “Have you HANDED it to someone else?”. (a firearm.)

Pedophiles roam around but liberals would rather register and publish those protecting themselves than the pedophiles.

This law is completely unconstitutional and in violation of due process

And Bill Gates the OS/Browser/Java/windows language thief has proven again what kind of creep he is.

The Gruberized Washington voters who backed I-594 have placed a significant part of that state’s population at the mercy of the good will of those in power.

We’ve all seen abuses by petty officials shutting down kids’ lemonade stands because they didn’t have a license, or PTA-type bake sales because of some imagined health violation.

We are going to see similar examples of bureaucratic overreach, but this time on steroids. I give it six months to a year (if that) before some otherwise law-abiding citizen is facing ruinous legal costs fighting a misdemeanor or even a felony charge due to the same mindset. All we need is an overzealous petty official or a politically ambitious DA to get the ball rolling.

Welcome to the Brave New World, courtesy of Bloomberg and the rest of the one percenters.

It’s becoming clear to me that this group is most about raising money and lining Gifford’s pockets.

Every year, local patriots gather on the county courthouse lawn here in town to swap/buy/sell 30 round magazines, despite the ban on 30 round mags that was put in place July 1st of 2013. July 4th 2013 was the first event. Again this year on July 4th as well. We will NOT comply.

If the “protest” comes off as planned on 12/13 in WA, you may see some folks lookin’ for some pro bono help around 12/15.

Or there may be some misguided members of law enforcement who will be needing medical attention. Seems to me the December 13 meeting may well be a repeat of what happened on the Lexington Green one fine April day.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.” ― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

Good on them.
They can join the thousands of Patriot brothers and sisters in NY and Connectuct as newly minted "We Will Not Comply" felons.
Welcome aboard!

With the coming invasion of Barry’s “unaccompanied” illegal alien invaders, it would be wise for everyone to start arming themselves and build up a massive stockpile of ammo. IMHO.

If 5,000 people actually show up to this thing, my comment would be why didn’t 4,900 of the numbnuts show up at the Westlake rally before the election? You know, when it might have done some good?

I was there, and brought four young people along. Our home-made signs made all the newscasts. Attendance was absolutely pathetic. I’d put it at about a hundred.

And yes, I’m still a little sore about it.

And I don’t blame you. We’ve had good local support in Reno and Carson City last legislative session and I certainly hope that folks realize a lot sooner this go around because it’s final outcome (BGC ballot initiative) will not really have much to do with the politicians. It’ll be like WA and “left” up to BIG money anti 2nd groups and a whole bunch of nolow info voters. Much at stake. Little to gain. And negligible impact on actual criminals. Not the newly minted I594 type criminals.
