Archeologists in Bulgaria haved uncovered a 13th century staked "vampire" at Perperikon, an ancient Thracian site in the south of the country, Archaeology reports. The remains once belonged to a man who was likely in his 40s. An iron rod had been hammered through his chest "to keep the corpse from rising from the dead and disturbing the living," Archaeology continues, and his left leg had also been removed and placed beside the corpse.
Clearly, this man's neighbors did not trust his remains to stay put. As Nikolai Ovcharov, the archeologist in charge of the dig, told the Telegraph: "We have no doubts that once again were seeing an anti-vampire ritual being carried out." At the time of the man's death, vampires were perceived as a real threat in many Eastern European communities. People who died unusuallyfrom suicide, for examplewere sometimes staked to prevent them from coming back from the dead, the Telegraph writes.

I saw this movie. Don’t take out the stake.
Reminds me of that old joke. What do you say to a one legged vampire in an ass kicking contest?
I hate when one legged vampires come back from the dead.
“got any grapes”?

His ‘neighbors’ were obviously vampirophobes.
Indeed.
They are always hopping mad.
Seems to have worked. He didn’t get up, we can see from that picture!
Why mess with it;)

When they turn into a bat do they only have one wing and just fly in circles?
Anyone who promotes the idea he was a vampire doesn’t have a leg to stand on...or is it the other way around?
I guess Hillary escaped capture.
OK!! You open up a grave and the corpse has stake driven through the heart and no one takes a picture!!!
uh!!! That would be his arm!!
