I have spent a little time compiling links to threads about the Ebola outbreak in the interest of having all the links in one thread for future reference.
Please add links to new threads and articles of interest as the situation develops.
Thank You all for you participation.
You’re welcome. I thought it needed to be done. Placed in a chronological order, we can look back and see who, what, and where just a little better. I’ll try to keep the links up on the thread as well.
There are huge differences between influenza and Ebola. Ebola is not spread through airborne means, but through direct contact with fluids, including droplets. While droplet transmission is similar to airborne, its range is limited; a person sitting on the opposite side of the room from an Ebola patient is unlikely to get sick. Ebola is also only contagious during symptomatic disease...well, it does persist in some bodily fluids, but it takes close personal contact to be exposed to those fluids.
Avian influenza is not transmissible except through close contact. It has a high death rate similar to that of Ebola. Where it differs is that influenza viruses exchange genes with each other, and mutate rapidly. A highly lethal influenza virus can, through mutation or gene trading, become a true airborne virus. Influenza is also contagious before symptoms appear and after they clear up. Once a highly lethal form of contagious influenza emerges and spreads beyond its point of origin, there is no way to stop it from spreading globally.
That is why there is continuing worry over avian influenza, while the Ebola outbreak is considered more of a public health emergency affecting Africa. Ebola is not likely to become highly contagious through the air, ever.

Good news, that.
You bet. Especially since another mention of this case said he’d traveled to/through Paris and then by train maybe to Hamburg.
“’Intrinsically opposed to medicine’ Boko Haram threaten bid to contain Ebola virus
ISLAMIC terrorist group Boko Haram could severely hinder efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak sweeping Nigeria, because they are opposed to Western medicine, a US diplomat warned last night.”
Possible case in Mali.
Thanks much Joe, really appreciate your effort.
You might recall a program called “Able Danger” was designed to do the same thing.
Use patterns in public and open source information to predict when a terrorist attack was going to take place.
Bill Clinton got rid of Able Danger as soon as he found out how it worked.
In 2004 some of the al Qaida docs recovered in Afghanistan were made public in what was the CTC at West Point’s Harmony Database.
One doc in particular makes it clear as to why Clinton got rid of Able Danger.
It’s a letter from OBL to Mullah Omar, listed as doc # AFGP-2002-600321.
In the doc OBL makes a statement, the media, meaning the news, is 90% of the PREPARATION for the battle.
In short the Clintons and our little lefty friends and their allies in the MSM media have been orchestrating news stories as part of the preparation for the terrorist attacks.
The “spontaneous” lie with Benghazi was concocted to make people believe there is no preparations for the attacks, the terrorist simply pick up on news stories and “spontaneously” plan attacks.
The trend you have detected in the news stories is part of the preparation for a terrorist attack.
Opening the borders and allowing the illegals to come pouring in is also part of the orchestrated news stories as part of the preparation for the attack.
Right now ISIS is engaged in a Twitter insult attack against our jug eared CIC so people will rally around jug ears before and especially after the attack.
Not too much different from the orchestrated news stories that came from the left prior to the attempted car bombing in NYC in 2010 which they tried to blame on the TEA Party.
It appears two of the attending nurses and an intern caught Ebola from Sawyer while administering care without any stringent isolation precautions even though they were being careful. Then one of the nurses spread it to another patient after working on Sawyer.
So it appears can be spread by contact through an intermediary who is not yet sick with the disease.
As I commented a couple of days ago on another thread. In that connection, consider the CDC's definition of "contact" for this outbreak:
What U.S. Hospitals Need to Know to Prepare for Ebola Virus Disease
"And casual contact were defining in here to be within three feet of a patient for a prolonged period of time."
Saw a number of odd vehicles eastbound on I70 in central Kansas last week - unmarked white bus and pickups pulling "TR12 Medical" trailers, all sporting "AF" government plates - Army or NG trucks (which we see commonly, but not ...) carrying obvious medical crates.
Anyone who thinks there might be some steps they could take to reduce their risk, or to shelter-in-place, and who hasn't begun taking some of those steps, is not paying attention.
Thanks.
I remember the old Mother Abigail threads like this.
I can see where letting the Boko Haram mingle in the isolation wards might bring a positive result—so long as they go directly back to their group afterwards.
Thanks, I recall those too. In fact, Mother Abigail was involved in the Marburg Surveillance Thread that was the inspiration for this one.
(Thanks for the link, yefragetuwrabrumuy!)
