What weve seen in our shelters is indicative of what weve seen more generally, Mr. Turner said. When they started naval bombardment, artillery and tank fire, thats just not as accurate as airstrikes. They cant see what theyre shooting at, so weve seen more destruction, more damage, more death.
Mr. Turner of the United Nations said his agency had provided the GPS coordinates of the school to the Israel Defense Forces 17 times, starting July 16 and most recently Tuesday at 8:48 p.m., to ensure it would be spared. Ziad Yousef, who also works for the agency, said the doors were locked at 11 p.m. Tuesday so no one could come or go.
People who saw that happen are now convinced there are no safe places left, Mr. Yousef said.
At least four strikes hit in close succession in a straight line across the school compound, indicating artillery fire, according to people who saw the attack; one struck a house behind the school. The drop ceiling of one classroom had collapsed, and the tin roof was peppered with shrapnel holes. The ground was covered with rubble, clothing and pools of blood. Sunlight shone through a hole in the roof of another classroom, also hit by a shell.

“Said” by whom?
Why the hell is the UN putting these kids in Gaza. Geez...
How many anti-aircraft batteries and rocket launchers were at this “school”?
want to stop the responsive shelling?
kill the hamas agents firing missiles
the Israeli shelling would stop fairly soon after that
Yeah, when you launch missile strikes from schools, hospitals and private homes those places tend to get retaliated against. My Give-A-$#*+ Meter is pegging at zero.
S**t happens...
Secondary detonations of missile caches.
I saw a report on the BBC this morning. Our media is downright chummy with the Israelis compared to those assholes.
The only thing left that I can think of is for the Israelis to build shelters right on the border monitored by the Israelis but Hamas would never accept it.
Disregard the 400 rockets stored there, and the fact that Hamas had the children tied to chairs.
Unlike the unguided rockets fired by Hamas, artillery whether ground-bound or afloat generally has forward observers calling corrections back to the battery.
While the indirect fire shooters can't see what they're shooting at - they certainly aren't firing blind.
Tanks, OTOH, have eyes on the target and I don't believe for one minute they don't know what they're shooting at.
Mr. Turner why did Israel hit the school? I bet you know why.
There were reports that a few days ago the IDF sent notification that "We know X is a Hamas site, we are going to bomb it - leave now." and Hamas prevented the civilians from leaving the site thus causing civilian casualties when the IDF did in fact bomb the site. Sorry I don't remember any more details, it is lost in the host of other barbaric acts committed by Hamas. The IDF should take no prisoners, wipe Hamas off the face of the earth.
The article remains silent about the REASON for the shelling until the very end...oh, by the way, Hamas rockets have “been found” in the UN schools, which the UN has turned over to “Gaza based security” which is a blatant euphemism for Hamas. And THIS time they will not turn over these rockets (the ones in the school that is getting the ever-loving snot shelled out of it) to Hamas....riiiiiggghhhht. This glimpse of fragments of truth comes after a long drone of “look at these poor people who have no place to go.”
WRONG! Earlier in the article, it says that they fled as Israeli forces advanced...or they chose to remain with the immoral, evil Hamas rather than live peaceably behind Israeli lines. You made your choices, and your children suffer....quite crying to the world about the consequences of your evil choices.
My house was burned and death followed us here, said Ahmed Mousa, 50, who was in the school courtyard when the shells hit. Where am I supposed to go? Answer: Wrong, you have followed death (Hamas and terrorism and Jew-hatred) your entire miserable life, and death has just decided to turn on you. Where are you supposed to go? As far from the evil Hamas and their culture of death as you can possibly manage. Until you do that, you are complicit in all of this bloodshed.
More media BS and lies.
I’m spending my morning trying to find my microscopic nano-violin.
I’ll bet this is in an area Israel advised civilians to leave.
Hamas uses unguided rockets. Why can't the Israelis? /S
Only 20 killed? Considering the cost of ordinance that is a mediocre return on investment. Kill them all.
