Perrette's severe allergic reaction landed her in the hospital.
NCIS actress Pauley Perrette suffered a severe allergic reaction caused by her hair dye that landed her in the hospital.
The 45-year-old star, who plays forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on the hit show, warned her Twitter followers to be careful about hair dye allergies in order to avoid having their heads "swell up like a melon" or worse.
Perrette is a natural blonde but she has been dyeing her hair for the past 20 years.
"The other half of my face had become twice the size of my head," she told CBS Los Angeles.
She experienced warning signs six months ago when a rash developed on her scalp and neck, but ignored it. Perrette is considering natural hair dye or possibly wearing a wig.
I’ve never used hair dye and refuse to grow up.
good info to know.
No Google either?

That was Missi Pyle
They could be sisters!
I went gray when I was just 25. It was devastating to me. I was suddenly old even as my friends were still young. Hair dye saved me.
It may have been shallow, but appearance is reality in so much of life.
20 years later, I still feel young. I have no apologies for dying my hair.
Tech Sargent Chen was a lucky guy......
If you are into tentacle action....
You cannot imagine....
;)
Wow.
I had no idea she was that pretty.
hard to believe she’s 45..
As long as she is still getting a pretty good paycheck, why change...that would be silly....
Worse than swelled, apparently.
Wow.
Who knew?
Just making the point that FR is more tuned-in to their TV sets than is healthygiven the situation in Washington. I really don't care to know.
As I aged I went lighter and lighter until I am now a natural blond. Ha. Dark hair makes old women look older.
Mine is actually more of a chocolate brown...not harsh and dark in color. I can’t see myself blonde, ever. And hey, people mistake my age as late 30s, so I’m happy, LOL.
You are actually young still, so you don’t have to worry about it. It got too hard to keep mine darker as it got whiter. First I went auburn, then red, then light brown and now it’s Loreal 8G. LOL. My mother was a flaming red-head, so I looked funny with my black hair and freckles. Now my hair better matches my skin.
