Mandatory treatment. I wonder if they are asking about gun ownership at the same time.

The VA has been asking about firearms the last several years.

“Mandatory Treatment” means “We get to charge you out the wazoo.”

They should ask both Obama and Hillary.

“how often have you had six or more drinks on one occasion?”

I can't remember, lol. And if the nurse is cute, I'd reply, "I'm interested."

Guns are completely out of line but the other questions are pretty much standard. I used to volunteer info on my drug and alcohol use to doctors when I did those things. It makes the doctor’s job easier and the treatment more effective.

Reporting it to the state is another matter since it infringes on doctor patient confidentiality.

Remember, there is no such thing as private information between you and your doctor. If it’s in the chart, then fedgov knows.

Also, make sure you read the fine print. I don’t know for a fact that this applies to health care, but many forms have criminal penalties for any falsehoods you put down.

Just LIE!!! Everybody else does! But I really do like the “what difference does it make” answer.

Having spent 20 years in clinical medicine this,on its face, doesn't sound unreasonable, largely due to the fact that alcohol and illegal drugs play such a huge role in damaging health. However,if it comes to pass that a patient is reported to authorities for having refused to answer or having given a false answer...or,worse still, medical personnel are compelled by law to ask such questions and/or reveal answers to police/prosecutors/courts...then it becomes really bad.And you can be sure that Rats,at least, will want exactly that to happen.

I give blood regularly,as do many folks. You should hear some of the questions you're asked beforehand! Do you frequent hookers? Do you shoot drugs? Do you (a guy) take it up the ***? Etc,etc. As silly and embarrassing these questions are there's a legitimate medical reason for each.

Gun ownership, or dog ownership...
