"A few years ago a British Dolly Parton fan played a 45 rpm vinyl single of Dolly Parton's Jolene at 33 rpm and posted the results on the interweb. The video (since removed) became a viral hit, not because it was funny but because the slowed-down version sounded good, and was a bit of a revelation; at the very least, it exposed the incredible rhythmic precision and soulfulness of Parton's phrasing, which can't always be limned when she's trilling and warbling at breakneck speed....." \ .....;

Really amazing!
“If it were not for Dollys other attributes she would not be as famous as she is. Her voice is only so-so!”
Yeah. She’s not very talented. She’s only written 5000 songs, recorded and published 350. Many for movies such as “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You” for “The Bodyguard”.
I was in a local honky-tonk a few weeks back and they had a three piece band playing. During a break the lead guitarist let his ten year old daughter sing Jolene with him playing solo. The kid belted out this song so well it was disturbing. It’s a beautiful song.
Dolly is one of the most talented women in country music and Hollywood. My only problem with this charismatic woman is the plastic surgery she’s done that has destroyed her beautiful features. Hello, Dolly! Why did you do that?!
Yeah, I switched to the non-gay version. It’s good.
Dolly is now 68 years old, her height is 5'0, she's been married to the same husband for 45 years, they had no children. They live in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Dolly is co-owner of "Dollywood", the 24th most popular theme park in the U. S. It's located in Pigeon Fork, Tennessee.
She is an extremely generous philanthropist through her personal foundation and many charitable benefit events where she has performed.
"Jolene" was recorded 41 years ago (1973). In my opinion, she has the perfect voice for her particular genre....purity of tone....and she nails the notes without out employing too many of the vocal gryrations and tricks which define a host of "country" female singers.

Not so. She's a very talented songwriter. And her voice is interesting.
Dolly also owns a “dinner attraction” in Springfield, Missouri.
If you like a $25 piece of fried chicken, have at it...
I’m a fan - and it takes a fan to visit Pigeon Forge and Dollywood!
You interviewed her ? What was that like ?
Little Willies featuring Norah Jones does a GREAT cover of Jolene - very plaintive!

Thanks for the Paul reference! ;)
They used this slowed-down version in an episode of The Blacklist. Initially, it sounded like a man singing it, but as the episode faded, and the song became more prominent, the song was definitely being sung by a woman. I didn’t know it was the original, just slowed down, though, until I looked into it on IMBD. I figured it was a new artist who’d performed it.
Graham Parsons couldnt make the look work, but his music was good.

Gram was 26 when he died. Had he lived a full life, well, he’d still be making music. Porter lived to be 80.
I picked up a recent copy of Guitar Aficianado (sp?), Garcia’s guitars on the cover, but a nice article about Gram, with pics of him wearing a Nudie suit. He wore them well (IMO).
I just read something yesterday where Dolly seems to wholeheartedly support Miley’s antics. One of those things that reminded me that every once in awhile, Dolly just says something weird. Said no one would allow Miley to grow up if she didn’t act that way.
Waaaaaay back in the day, when I was just a wee tyke, I, like all my friends had one of those little 'suitcase' style record players with the four speed settings. And no matter what speed the record was, you just had to try it out on all the others. Really! You had to!
It worked best with Chipmunks albums. Flip it up to 78 speed and suddenly Dave sounded like Alvin on speed.
Flip it down to 16 rpms and Alvin sounded like Dave......on acid.
Sounds vaguely transgendered.
