"A few years ago a British Dolly Parton fan played a 45 rpm vinyl single of Dolly Parton's Jolene at 33 rpm and posted the results on the interweb. The video (since removed) became a viral hit, not because it was funny but because the slowed-down version sounded good, and was a bit of a revelation; at the very least, it exposed the incredible rhythmic precision and soulfulness of Parton's phrasing, which can't always be limned when she's trilling and warbling at breakneck speed....." \ .....;

The recording said Tammy Wynette is Dead?
That’s a seriously beautiful song. She’s so talented.
That’s really good!
Dolly is actually very talented. And...I heard her interviewed a couple of years ago. She is very sharp.
I can’t say I’m a huge Dolly fan but I will give credit where it is due.
Definitely her best song. I like the original speed - it seems to convey the desperation of song.
That's what I heard, too.... when I played it backwards. /s
she could be Faith Hills bio mom in that pic...
Coate?
If it were not for Dolly’s other attributes she would not be as famous as she is. Her voice is only so-so! And Porter should share in her success!
The slowed-down, non pitch-shifted version really impresses me because of the purity of the tone of her voice (along with all the studio work).
BOTH versions are excellent!
Love, love, love Dolly. Thanks for posting.
Used to watch Dolly on the old Porter Wagoner Show out of Springfield, MO, before she was ‘the’ Dolly Pardon.

In a similar vein, here’s Wanda Jackson singing Funnel of Love (with Roy Clark on the sitar sounding guitar) at 45 and slowed to 33

Listen to the first slowed down version (that hasn’t been pitch adjusted).
Maybe is you slow down Neil Young songs, he sounds like a dude too!
Oh, my gosh, she’s a fabulous singer. Her acting skills within the songs are superb. And those songwriting talents!
