"A few years ago a British Dolly Parton fan played a 45 rpm vinyl single of Dolly Parton's Jolene at 33 rpm and posted the results on the interweb. The video (since removed) became a viral hit, not because it was funny but because the slowed-down version sounded good, and was a bit of a revelation; at the very least, it exposed the incredible rhythmic precision and soulfulness of Parton's phrasing, which can't always be limned when she's trilling and warbling at breakneck speed....." \ .....;

Excellent.
Porter Wagoner, yeah! Those sparkling Nudie suits and that blonde pompadour. He’s one of a kind.
Graham Parsons couldn’t make the look work, but his music was good.
Wow, that’s pretty cool. I’m not really much of a CW fan, but I am an accomplished musician and I always appreciate a finely crafted song. That you can slow this down and it still sounds great is quite impressive.
If anything it is closer to Cher. Although I still prefer the Miley Cyrus version with two guitars, cello, keyboard and a backup singer with a soulful, gorgeous voice made for this kind of music...less naturally country twangy, stronger and more upbeat.
According to Drudge and the Daily Mail, Dolly, at 68, wowed ‘em at Glastonbury this weekend. Here’s a copy & paste link: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2674120/Dolly-Parton-delivers-memorable-performance-Glastonbury.html
And that 33 rpm version is wonderful! Thanks.
“Little Willies” featuring Norah Jones does a GREAT cover
Little known fact...
If you play it backwards at 78 speed, it’s a satanic rant aimed at the Pigeon Forge City Council.
Dolly Parton is Miley Cyrus’ godmother. I think Dolly needs to have a talk with that girl.
If hubby talked about some other woman in his sleep, he’d wake up in hell.
/not into the “loyal no matter what country gal” thang.
:)
LOL
This Southern country girl has Granny’s frying pan and I understand it can pack a hearty wallop if needed.
LOL!
The pitch shifted version is amazing!
That’s what I’m talkin’ ‘bout.
;D
She also knows more "Dolly jokes" than anyone I was interviewing her on WJEZ Chicago (Now WJMK and no longer country) and she remarked that she had no desire to ever play the accordion as it might be painful.
Dolly turned into Fleetwood Mac there. Sounds good!
Wow, sleep talk is not even legal testimony. So, if he started talking about, “Sara Lee,” or, “Lil’ Debbie,” he’d never get the chance to explain?
Don’t be silly.
Those are obvious brand names.
I’m not wholly unreasonable.
:)
