The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) voted Thursday to allow pastors to marry same-sex couples in states where it is legal.
The church also voted, by an overwhelming majority, to change the language about marriage in the church constitution to "two persons" from a "man and a woman," according to More Light Presbyterians, a group that supports gay rights.
To take effect, that change would need to be approved by a majority of 172 local presbyteries, which have a year to vote, the church said in a statement.
However, starting Saturday, pastors can go ahead and begin marrying same-sex couples in the states that allow it, according to Toya Richards Jackson, a church spokeswoman.
"The church affirmed all its faithful members today. This vote is an answer to many prayers for the Church to recognize love between committed same-sex couples," said Alex McNeill, executive director at More Light Presbyterians.

OK, so they are no longer a Christian church and are no agnostic.
I'm starting to wonder how people justify to themselves or rationalize staying in certain churches.
What would God expect the members to do? Go along to get along?

They can vote to allow unicorns to pretend they are getting married too, but that won’t make a unicorn “marriage” real.
Good one. Maybe they will start tickling something else. That should get some peoples’ attention. Oh it’s itching ears. Yeah, scratch something else.

They might as well just start painting pentagrams all over their church, and sacrificially killing goats in front of their alter.
Any church embracing the depravity of fag-marriage and wallowing in fecal matter is no longer remotely Christian. More like worshippers of evil.
I have some issues about the church which are different from the ones cited in the article but matter to me. It makes me wonder why a whole lot of people a lot smarter than me don't seem to be bothered about any of it.
I can't advise you what to do. Pray about it. I can't fault you about the music. I love the liturgy and music in the Catholic church. And there are lots of nice people - in almost all churches.

A human institution, whose priests are often no saints (then again whose are), it nevertheless has stood up to a millenium of assault, calumny and hostility from the world, withstood wars, dictators, schism and jihad.
I notice that when intellectuals, writers and other learned men seek out the faith, they go to the mother church-- never to splinter sects.
There are more Presbyterian Church denominations than just the PC-USA. For those wanting a more biblical Presbyterian church, the Orthodox Presbyterians is probably a good option.
Regardless of the rightness or wrongness of the issue, This policy makes no sense. Before all the votes are in from all the presbyteries, they allow the change to happen immediately anyway?

That is bizarre about a bologna sandwich in the dream. Maybe he is hungry (spiritually); he was so depressed he lost 50 pounds before he died. That is kind of disturbing. My daughter wouldn't necessarily know anything about Purgatory.
I can receive some of my communions for him and also try to get a plenary indulgence. Might be more of my craziness but won't hurt to run it by you. The most that could come of it is nothing. It just occurred to me today that maybe I ought to do it for him.
My son committed suicide on Dec. 5, 2012 and I have been so worried if he will be ok. He was also mad at me because I called the police once and that was the last time he talked to me.
After I read what Hillary said the other day about reading her bible, I wondered how we could be raised in the same church and come away so different. She must read a different bible than I have or reads hers upside down or needs stronger glasses or something.
How can anyone who has seriously read the bible believe in abortion, homosexual marriage, never mind the acts, trans gendering? Some of this certainly deserves our compassion. The Methodist church has held the line on homosexual marriage last I knew but years ago there were two lesbian Methodist ministers out west who were raising an artificially inseminated baby and pastoring a church.
