(Spoiler) Did you watch The Game of Thrones Season 4 finale (vanity)

Posted on 06/16/2014 1:31:25 PM PDT by lulu16

Anyone feel sad that The Hound was left to die? He was one of my favorite characters, and I could not bear to see him beaten by Brianne. I think they should have at least referred to how weak he was by his previous wound that he would not let Anya ( spoiled, self-centered brat) cauterized. The Hound was always her champion and defender, loyal and even loving in his way. Killing the butcher's boy was because he was following Joffrey's order. And it was his choice, to find and save her sister, and because of that Anya (the user), should have forgiven him and taken it off her death list.

I also felt kind of weepy when Ygritte was on her pyre, her white shoulder and profile so pretty.

"You know nothing, Jon Snow."

I liked the practicality of Mance's position, and how he was easy with Jon Snow, and how they toasted their dead that was from the North.

Stannis army was a big surprise, and the formation of his troops on the overhead shot was spectacular, even though they weren't dressed for the cold weather.

I don't give a fig about Cercei, but doesn't Jamie know she is using him.

What about the Mountain. Is he dead or just mostly dead?

And why did Dany punish the two good dragons? I miss Ser Jorah at her side.

Tyrell dying on the throne.

I look forward to the Tyrion and Pycelle road show.

I don’t think she was punishing the two dragons—she was preventing them from going rogue like the black dragon did.

A lot of little things have been changed from the books. In my opinion, for the worse.

In the book Shae tells Tyrion she is glad to see him and he kills her anyway for betraying him. In the show, they couldn’t allow that ambiguity so they had Shae try to kill Tyrion.

They also change the reason Tyrion kills his father. It was because they told Tyrion his wife was a whore and they drove her from the city. Jamie was supposed to tell Tyrion the truth, that his wife really loved him and was not a whore.

But in the show, Tyrion kills Tywin for calling Shae a whore, but Tyrion had just killed Shae. I don’t see how these changes made the show better. They are trying to “simplify” everyone’s motives for the tv audience.

In the book when Arya refuses to kill the Hound in mercy she says “you should have saved my mother”.

It’s Tyrion and Varys on the ship together, not Pycelle.

Spoiler Alert!

If they follow the book he isn’t dead.

I was pissed at the Hound vs Brienne fight. She wouldn’t stand a chance again him if he were full strength. They did a lot of foreshadowing of his wounds in previous episodes at least.
I don’t think he’s dead, both in the show and the books. GRRM shows you the death of the character and if they intentionally shy away from it there is a reason.
I agree though that this episode felt very rushed, and I didn’t enjoy some of the pivotal parts as much as I should have. They really need to move to at least 12 episode seasons.

**By chaining them up, she kinda is punishing/preventing at the same time? & I think she feels guilty..

Not a real spoiler because they may not follow the book. It’s also slightly ambiguous in the book. In the book there is no Brienne/ Hound fight. I guess they decided the Hound deserved (at least) one last good fight.

As to people who think Brienne could not beat the Hound, no basis for that. They are two unstoppable characters.

You don’t have to open the thread to see spoilers. They are right on the front page. I didn’t file a complaint. I just registered my displeasure to the OP. Then somebody responds with more spoilers. Nothing but richards around here.

Look on the bright side, maybe I made it all up.

This isn’t really a spoiler but the Third Book is the best. The next two books kind of meander around, as GRRM expanded his original 3 book project to 7, and has hinted he might keep going for 8.

Stuff does happen in the next two books, but it takes a long time. Probably enough to be condensed on tv.

There’s been too much foreshadowing of the Hound’s hatred for his brother, the Mountain to let him die now.

I think we’ll see him again.

Satisfying that Aria is on a boat to Brazos and that Tyrian dealt with his father on the crapper.

I like the irony of Danerys freeing the slaves but enslaving the dragons.

Spoilers ahead

The Hound may not be dead. There was no fight between The Hound and Brienne, but Brienne does see somebody during her search for Sansa that many readers are pretty sure is The Hound, AFTER his apparent death, serving as a simple monk.

The Mountain is another maybe. The poison on the spear was a horrible one and The Mountain died in agony. However, Cersei's new pet non-Maester took the body for his studies, and later a new member of the King's Guard shows up - a HUGE man who never removes his helmet. Note that this is AFTER the apparent beheading of The Mountain.

I was a little saddened at the changes in Tyrion's escape and Tywin's death. Jamie, while freeing Tyrion, admitted the young girl Tyrion had married at age 16 was NOT a whore - that was a story Tywin demanded be told to force Tyrion to divorce the girl. That girl loved Tyrion, and when Tyrion demanded to know where she was sent, Tywin said "Wherever whores go" and got a crossbow bolt through the groin for his troubles. Tyrion hates Jamie now because Jamie was in on the secret and had lied to Tyrion all these years. As for Shae, in the book she was NOT in love in Tyrion but was a gold-digger, and her betrayal of Tyrion and showing up in Tywin's bed enraged Tyrion into strangling her.

I say good riddance to The Hound. Glad Arya took the money bag off him. Good riddance to Tywin Lannister too. I’m looking forward to Cersei Lannister being done away with at some point, although I wonder whose hand it will be by? Arya’s? Sansa’s?
