American developed hairy tongue 10 years ago and tried several treatments but could not be cured
An American who suffered for 10 years from a ‘hairy tongue’ has finally found a cure for his condition in Dubai.
Clay Irwin visited several doctors in several countries, including his home country, to treat his embarrassing condition which impacted his social life as he suffered from constant bad breath due to food and saliva getting stuck in the hair on his tongue.
“I developed a rare medical condition some time back. I went to several places in the US, but none could help. I came upon Dr Maen while browsing online and the treatment has changed my life,” said Irwin in a video testimonial from the US.
“He suffered for over 10 years; it’s not a very common condition and he tried various treatments but could not be cured all these years,” said Dr Maen Al Khateeb, director dentistry and maxillo-facial surgeon, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital, who treated Irwin.
“Our main concern was we did not want to affect his taste buds and at the same time, remove the hair.
“Using a combination of regular surgery and laser, we were able to cure him. He is perfectly normal now.”
Hairy tongue is caused by excessive bacterial or yeast growth in the mouth that could develop due to several reasons, including a reaction to antibiotics or several other medical conditions.
“Good oral hygiene is usually considered to be the best way to treat hairy tongue, but in this case the patient was not getting results,” said Dr Khateeb.
Why would you think this article was actually true?
These days, there are reality shows full of features on diseases, disorders, deformities and obsessive compulsions I have never heard of, so it wasn’t too difficult to accept this possibility.
OF course the hairy tongue is true. I am referring to the premise of the article that only the medicos of Dubai could cure it.
I thought this was going to be about a surgical separation of Harry Reid and Barack Obama.
