When American Girl opted to discontinue two of its historical dolls last week, the brand chose Facebook as its medium of communication: “Soon, we’ll say farewell to Marie-Grace, Cécile, Ruthi and Ivy,” American Girl announced. “Complete your collection while supplies last—quantities are extremely limited.”
It wasn’t so simple, though. What the brand failed to address in its statement, but which very quickly became evident in blog posts, was that Cécile, an African-American doll, and Ivy, an Asian-American doll, were two of the only dolls of color in American Girl’s standard collection.

Maybe the Gov’t should step in and demand diversity quotas for dolls.

Rejection is Hell - not only do the stats show whites don’t rape blacks to any extent as compared to blacks raping whites, but now the whites aren’t buying black dolls.

I can’t imagine the company stopped making the dolls because they were the most popular.
Since liberals don’t understand business, they can’t understand why a company would stop producing something if it’s a money loser.
Translation: sales sucked.
These dolls are expensive - well made, quality dolls. Perhaps there aren’t many of these particular dolls being sold, so why keep them in the inventory? This company has gone through many historical periods and dolls - my daughter had two of them back in the 80’s, both have been discontinued. It is called “marketing” - you offer new merchandise once the old stuff has run its course.
Now we're just a spot on the globe people come to make money, watch TV and complain about unfairness.

It's not racism any more than a new model year of a car. It's marketing and pumping demand.
She wears a complete burka in the slimming girlish color of black. She comes with a removable clitoris so Muslim girls can get used to the idea. Her blackened eyes and bruises present an accurate image of the modern jihadi girl who doubles as a punching bag for her father, brothers or husband (even though she is only 9 years old!), and her suicide bomb vest is not removable.
For safety, she doesn't really blow up, but if you push the secret button, she screams,
"AiiiiiiYiiiiiiiiiYiiiiiiii!!!! I KILL YOU, INFIDEL!!! ALLAHU AKHAR!!!!"

I’ve actaully thought of using the phrase “colored guy” about a black man and see what people say. I’ll just tell them that its eadier than saying “guy of color” and besides, it is the same words and means the same thing - and maybe they should think before condemning another person’s speech.
Companies can’t continue making products what sit on shelves. If the dolls of color aren’t selling then they should be discontinued.
If you disagree, then buy enough of the dolls to make keeping them around economical.
