Maggie is a straight-laced, straight-A student studying to become an international affairs lawyer, who will graduate debt-free all thanks to the unusual way she pays her tuition.
Maggie, 23, a double-major in Spanish and political science, is a student by day and a stripper by night. Every other weekend, Maggie, who asked that her last name not be used, takes the three-hour ride from her college in Maryland to Manhattan, where she performs at a dance club called Scores.
“I have a class that ends at 5:30, hop on a bus at 6:00, and be at work by 8:30,” Maggie said.
Maggie is part of a new generation of women putting themselves through college by taking their clothes off, and they are unapologetic about it.
“This takes a lot of brains,” Maggie said. “A girl can be really pretty and not make any money in this field, or she cannot be pretty and make a lot of money because so much of it is about interpersonal skills.”
Maggie is one of 24 women at Scores who are putting themselves through school and stripping to make as much money as possible before they get their diplomas. A fellow dancer, who asked to be called "Jade," is also a college student in New York, studying for five finals, who strips to pay for school.
“When I grow up, I’m hoping to become a forensic psychologist for the judicial system,” she said.

She claims to be making $180,000/year: enough to pay for college and set some savings aside for when she expects to earn less after graduating.
Good info... But I was actually questioning how the reporter came to the conclusion the stripper is straight-laced.

I am having trouble figuring out which is more unseemly... Going to College to be a double major in Espanol and PoliSci, or being a stripper? What are her career plans? Aspiring to be some Jeffe' in Latin America? Organizing a PAC amongst all the Gardeners in California?
Eh, it is unfair for me to dump on Liberal Art majors. Maybe she is just getting an Education for Education sake (which is good). Just strikes me as an odd major.
The only way this whole thing adds up is if she goes to Cecil Community College in Maryland and at 5:30 drives to Wilmington, Delaware (30 minutes) and gets the 6pm bus to New York (2.5 hours).
Cecil’s tuition is only $5,500/in state and the only offer a 2 year AA. She could work at McDonalds and cover her tuition there. I guess she’s saving up for law school ;-)
IOW, if a word is misspelled long enough, the misspelling becomes correct.

There's a show on the Cooking Channel called "The Freshman Class", a "reality" show about first year culinary school students in Louisiana.
Last year, there was one aspiring chef, a single mom, that also made big bucks as a stripper. A two-fer...
