According to the Christian Post Monday, megachurch, Westminster Presbyterian Church (This is a PCUSA church) in Greensboro, NC will be without a senior pastor because of his recent admittance to having an affair for the entire nine months he has been the pastor. Weaver apologized in a letter to the Salem Presbytery: I have violated my ordination vows and my wedding vows," the 33-year-old Weaver confessed in the letter, which was mailed to the congregation on Friday by the Salem Presbytery, the regional governing body for local Presbyterian (U.S.A.) churches. "I am sorry and I ask your forgiveness.
This young married couple seems like they had so much promise. What went wrong?
Notice the different last names. It is not uncommon for husbands and wives to have different last names, but the wife's name is not even hyphenated to include Weaver.

We can start with 'PCUSA' and work our way down from there.
The YBPDLN Ping List is generally published infrequently but based on the exploits of the megachurch pastors posts can spike for a season. If you would like on or off of this list please FReepmail me.

I expect the pastors at PCUSA churches to violate their marriage vows, even in same sex marriages.
They preach a liberal morality and pretend to live a conservative one. The hypocrisy is not in fact that these liberal feel good pastors cheat on their spouses. The hypocrites are the ones who don’t.
They probably became pastors because they heard it was a great way to meet chicks.
This thread is useless w/o pictures of both the wife and the mistress.
In other words, guilt cannot yet be determined!
Most all megachurches are “Rock in Rool, Rockband Jesus who loves the puppies and childrens...”
They have forgoetten the times Jesus turned over the tables and kicked the corruption out of the temples, instead becomming money changers in their own right...
At best they are low rent pharisies...
At worst they are out and out money changers in frocks...
That would be the female pastors. The male pastors probably heard it was a great way to meet boys.
Oh believe me, I know there's a lot of truth to that.
I grew up in the surrounding neighborhood and earned my Eagle Scout rank in Troop 101, which is sponsored by this church and meets in the Fellowship Hall.
Interesting that the pastor was black — the church is almost all white.
I had no idea Westminster was a “mega-church”. First Presbyterian Church downtown is where I used to go and it has had 4000+ members since I can remember.
There are pleanty of “mega” church’s that have Godley pastors and leaders. Mega is not synomunous with cheater.
synonymous

2000 is the usual figure I hear, as definitional for a "megachurch". Wikipedia, that font of all knowledge (YMMV), agrees.
A megachurch is a term used (primarily in the United States) to describe a Protestant church having 2,000[1] or more[2] persons in average weekend attendance.[3]
IMO 33 years old is too young for a senior pastor.
Oh thats cool. I thought synomunous was just the Spainish spelling. NP!
Back during my easily influenced adolescence, our pastor ran off with my father’s secretary.
That episode schooled me to expect a lot less, from people including pastors.
It can be a lucrative career, for charismatic self-promoters.
Agree~
Our Methodist system is itinerant with many smaller churches having only one pastor who is called the senior pastor. As they learn, and as there are retirements, the younger will move "up" (if qualified) to a slightly larger church, and the recently ordained new young will replace them in their entry level church. There's some decent logic for it, but it is hard on churches, and just about dooms them to tread water.
Is there such a thing as a truly gifted and spirit-filled 33 year old who has the maturity to senior pastor a large church with a large multi-pastor staff? It would be the exception, so for the most part, I'm in agreement with you.
Since this is PCUSA, my guess is that some higher up was fast-tracking this young pastor, and his sexual promiscuity suggests a reason why.
