WASHINGTON (CBSDC) David Letterman regrets the way he treated Monica Lewinsky throughout the years over her affair with then President Bill Clinton while she was a White House intern.
With retiring ABC News Barbara Walters as his guest on his CBS show Wednesday night, The Late Show host said he started to feel bad about the role he played taking shots at Lewinsky after she penned a story for Vanity Fair opening up about the affair and the troubles she had finding a job.
Now I started to feel bad because myself and other people with shows like this made relentless jokes about the poor woman and she was a kid. She was 21, 22, Letterman said, adding that it was a sad human situation.
Letterman continued: I feel bad about my role in helping push the humiliation to the point of suffocation.
Walters said it was time to turn the page on Lewinsky.
She has been ridiculed now for all these years and she is an intelligent woman, Walters told Letterman. I wish her well.

Thanks for sharing. DIAF, loser.
Letterman is a pig.
David Letterman isn’t particularly my favourite creature in the world, but I’m going to take him at his word. He’s making a public statement. Should he make apologies to other people? Perhaps so, but he’s making a public statement about Lewinsky, whom he probably really skewered over the years, so his apology and that realization is maybe a good start in my opinion. Lewinsky was a mixed up girl looking for love, affection, and attention in the wrong fashion with a very powerful man that didn’t have her best interest at heart. Been there, done that...just not the same circumstances and not in a public way. I hurled some stones at her, too, probably along the way. I’m thinking back, and I don’t know that she had anyone in her corner. Not women. Not men. Not left. Not right. Unless she does something EVIL (I’m talking psychopathic) in the future, I will not do that any longer. I refuse to dog pile on people any more...Obama et. al. and EVIL people being exceptions and are FAIR GAME IMO. I wish her the best in having a happy life, being a good person, and finding meaning for her life. It’s human compassion and we all need that.
I was trying to think how to put it, and there you nailed it!
However, she had the most powerful people in the world after her who labeled her "stalker" among other such things to deflect the blame from Clinton and no help from NOW or other women's groups.
That was atrocious.
“Walters said it was time to turn the page on Lewinsky”
In other words sweep it under the rug, we have Hillary running for President. What a bunch of losers.
Well said.
He’s just jealous that it wasn’t him sucking on that ‘cigar’.
Almost everything that happened to Lewinsky, including any unjustified ridicule by Letterman, was the fault of Clinton. It is he who deserves the shame of having squandered his time in office by abusing this young woman.
I won't hold my breath waiting for someone like Letterman to see what master he was serving.
They gave Linda Tripp real hell.
The description writes itself...ugh.
Thanks, trisham. ;)
:)
I’m not gonna say she was not an opportunist. But BC held the keys to the Oval Office! An Immoral Ass that forgot the three most important things, God, Country, Family,~ And Defiantly had no Honor!
Nope he is all part of the plan to put this all behind us as Hillary ramps up for 2016
I feel bad about my role in helping push the humiliation to the point of suffocation.

You should have allowed her to come up for some air more often.
They would do it again in a heartbeat to save a RAT president.
I agree with what you say. I’ve never watched Letterman and never will, and I don’t take seriously any “regret” he claims to have about the matter. He’s nothing but garbage. As for Miz Walters, the wrinkled old Methuselah should have been put out to pasture eons ago. She’s another one I’ve never watched, as I was never interested in anything she had to say. A pox on both of these losers.
A 14 yr old at that time!
Talk about a war on children.
