How Often Do You Really Need to Shower?
Yahoo ^ | 5/6/2014 | Yahoo

If you don't shower much - but generally keep that information to yourself because of the negative stigma - you're not alone. Following hot on the heels of the no-shampooing hair care revolution, some folks are taking the logical next step: If no or reduced shampooing results in healthier, shinier hair, what about skipping soaping up the body? Unlike the modified hair-washing schedule, which tends to elicit commentary about shampoos and parabens, conditioners and hair-drying time, skipping showers altogether seems to bring up plenty of other opinions on the subject. Many people who do shower every day think that not doing so is inherently wrong and unhealthy. It's assumed that people who don't shower on the regular are stinky and/or greasy and maybe even visibly dirty - and it certainly can't be good for you.

I’m sure there is a wide range of opinion on this. There is a sense in which overkill attends to American hygiene sensitivities. We live a full life, and stink is part of it. You freaking canaries in a coal mine need to cut some slack when your neighbor tends to collect more of the earth before washing it off. Stinking Commies need to repent and be baptized.

Any damn time I want. Boy, these retarded liberals really have some serious issues with simple life.

It all evades them. Here are a few remarks I’ve gotten from liberals over simple things:

1) during a conversation about breakfast cereal: (I hate so many choices...it’s too confusing); really I say, so what should happen? (There should only be three or four allowed)

They don’t understand freedom of choice (and are pro-choice?) or a free market.

In the same vein 2) Look, Taco Bell is building over there across the street from McDonlad’s (oh, that’s not a good idea. There is a Burger King and KFC nearby and with another one people will lose their jobs). How so I ask (they’ll take business from each other).

To this day I know people who don’t understand competition. It’s like the idiots that call Walmart a monopoly. They don’t understand the word. If they are a monopoly then I’m mentally deranged because I see Costco, Kohls, Kroger, Publix, Lowes, Home Depot, Firestone, etc.

A super Walmart provides all the services and goods, plus others, listed above. They are obviously not very good at being a monopoly.

Used to go backpacking in the high mountains or desert for up to two weeks at a time. Tried to keep clean but it just doesn’t work well.

You start itching after two days and that lasts for three or four days. After that the itching mostly stops, but the odor doesn’t.

The first shower after return to civilization is indeed wonderful.

Ha ha ha. Right around that time they also might have been looking for as much alone nekid time as possible and the shower gave it to them.

I'm sure of that too. We lived in a small house so they didn't have much other "private" time. At least they got clean without me having to nag. :-)

Knew a couple of guys like that in the AF, didn’t shower everyday. After a while folks would get together and pretty much solve that problem.

I shower in the morning, after my dog brings me for our early morning walk. It became a necessary habit when I lived in SE Massachustts. Because of ticks and infected mosquitoes, it was best to get those early morning pests that are active in the morning dew washed away.

Second shower optionaal; depending on day's activity.

My grandmother believed daily bathing was unhealthy and made you more likely to get sick. Once or twice a week was okay but every day? Not to her way of thinking.

SSG Morrison is that you? Seriously, I had a squad leader in Germany back in the ‘80s who did reenacting, wore an SS dappled camo smock with a WW II ‘coal scuttle’ German helmet and flew a German naval ensign from the antenna on his M113 Dragon track, great guy, looked a bit like Teddy Roosevelt, steel rimmed glasses, thick mustache, barrel chested, big TR grin, the little old lady German hausfraus would wave and blow him kisses. We were Scouts so we got away with all sorts of stuff, improvising camo before the BDU uniforms were in the system, at one point we wore UK DPMS smocks, Rhodesian, Vietnam Tiger Stripe, SS dappled, Ghillie suits...the CSM just shook his head....
