I actually convinced my wife to buy one of these instead of a Subaru before we were married. She's never let me forget it.

My first car was a Rambler. It was ugly but at college friends liked to borrow it because the seats lay down flat.

I feel the same way about Mini Coopers. A blast to drive but wouldn’t want to own one.

Chevy HHR was designed by the same guy who designed the PT Cruiser for Chrysler.

This dog takes the crown for me
In fact shortly after it was introduced I received a call from a market research company asking if I remembered anything from the latest Newseek Magazine. I said "Yes I did I saw the ugliest car I had ever seen". That is what they were calling about.
To: saleman

Rented one of those last year. While not strong in the looks department, it was a very nice drive.

A friend of mine bought a car called a JUKE. Ugly as sin but all wheel drive subcompact. I am exploring it.

The ugliest, but most awesome, car in the world is the Land Rover Defender. I have one that is 20+ years old in Israel. Runs great, can do anything. And so fricking ugly, it's cool.

The styling of the original Scion Xb was inspired by the Chevy Astro Van, believe it or not. Japanese youth fell in love with them for customizing, lowered suspension, etc. to the point of there being a pretty hot export market at one point, despite being left-hand drive instead of the native right-hand drive.

LOLOLOL! Not quite. Color is correct but I had the much sportier hatchback/fastback version. Driving home one day it dropped a “pressed in” exhaust valve seat. It took me a couple of months to get a replacement head so I drove it on 3 cylinders for a while. Sounded horrible. May it RIP.
