The website for the much-touted Armatix iP1 "Smart Gun" shows the firearm is available in only .22 long rifle, and International Business Times reports its price is "a hefty $1,800."
This presents two immediate problems: One, .22 long rifle is a measly round for self defense, and two, the price "is approximately three times the price of a Glock 17 [or model 19]," two of the most popular and dependable handguns in America.

Why is the pistol thought to be a “smart” gun?
Does it go for vital organs only?

The solution is simple.
Carry the concealed weapon you prefer and deal with the consequences should they arise.
Great opportunity to demonstrate, in court, the Unconstitutionality of this N.J. Law.

Problem #3. 22lr ammo is expensive and or hard to find.
Problem #4. 22lr stopping power is unreliable.
Problem #5. Battery powered/ EMP susceptible.
Best stick to your black powder .44 revolver in that case.

"Smart Gun" must be just like the "Smart Car." Small, under-powered, and over-priced.
$1,800...jeez, I can get a nice gas-piston operated AR platform for that kind of scratch.

This firearm also performs the following vital functions:
- It lowers your carbon footprint.....because it won't fire and you become dead.
- It prevents 'white privilege'.....because it won't fire and you become dead.
- It negates Stand Your Ground Laws......because it won't fire and you become dead.

“Should sell well. Not.”
Give it a few years and a few more liberal-controlled governments and it will do fine.
Just like those expensive air-bags.
Motorcycle helmets
Rear-view backup cameras or radar.
LED lightbulbs
low flow toilets
wired smoke detectors
medical insurance

In case any businessman is considering manufacturing or selling this, I will permanently boycott any business or website that carries this product. Existing and likely future laws compelling everyone to buy this if it is commercially available make this a question of freedom not of free choice. While I do not have the legal or moral right to tell someone they cannot sell this, I will promise that anyone who attempts to sell this will never sell anything to me again. Given that the market is a trivial fraction of 1% of the firearms market (if that), since most people who buy firearms are interested in reliability, this is not going to sell.

NJ Law states that as soon as biometric “smart”gun technology is commercially available, all other firearms will become illegal. I have heard of no challenges to this or sunset provisions... but, basically, there is your compact fluorescent lightbulb.

At least they gave it an appropriate name. iP1. When it fails to fire in an emergency I pee down one leg.
P.S. It also looks like Tupperware.
