Surprise benefits of humble coconut oil - Reversing Dementia.
Thanks...he’s the smallest of his “kind” I’ve ever seen. We inherited him in 2011.
Ping some of my other FRiends.
If they can stomach me, they can surely help you.
:D
I think it depends on the person. I bet my dad could take it as he will down most anything. Now my mom bothering to give it to him is another thing entirely.
“Good point! “
Why would it matter as long as it helped????
Ah...I think you are pretty stomachable. :)
I still haven’t swallowed the Manuka yet. My cheeks are getting bigger and bigger.
That’s a little hard for me to believe. I had my mother taking coconut oil for about two years and her Alzheimer’s continued to march right along.
Very interesting. I suffer from hypothyroidism, but it’s treated with medication.
What could I take with coconut in it? Would it have to be specific supplements? Would the coconut water suffice?
I think if you can make a nice thick smoothie with milk or yogurt, 2 tsp of coco oil, maybe some fresh berries, and half a banana, you wouldn’t know it was in there. I’ve done that before. Never even thought to take it alone, ugh. No need.
I think that is an excellent idea!
One of the nicest things anybody’s ever said to me.
:]
Coconut water, though delicious, has none of the fat.
Lots of FReepers have offered suggestions and my favorite is the smoothie approach for the oil.
I just use the capsules ‘cuz I’m lazy.
:)
If you don’t like the cocomut oil to ingest for dementia, you can always make chocolate bars out of it. :)
3 Ingredient Chocolate Bars
Ingredients
1/4 cup coconut oil (measure after melting)
1/4 cup cocoa powder or cacao powder
2-3 T maple syrup or honey
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk all ingredients well. Make sure there are no lumps. It should only take a minute.
Pour the mixture into molds. If you use chocolate bar molds, it should take about an hour for everything to firm up. If you use something larger, it may take a bit longer.
This chocolate has a mild coconut taste, but it is not overwhelming. These bars are best when they are stored in the freezer.
See #94 ! :) This is for YOU, not your dogs.
For a delicious low-carb chocolate treat:
Mix equal parts Coconut Oil, Cocoa Powder and Whipping Cream. Add stevia for sweetener. Optionally add a little vanilla extract.
This makes an easy way to eat a lot of coconut oil.
Coconut oil melts at 77 degrees. So you might need to heat it before mixing the ingredients.
In warmer weather, it is similar to Nutella. In cooler weather, or if you refrigerate it, it is just chocolate.
You had me at “chocolate”.
;D
It also works as a topical deodorant.
Ah ha!
See?
You were ~thinking~ about my dogs!
