Eight years ago, one woman was confronted by a hit man who had been hired by her husband to murder her. She killed the hit man with her bare hands. Now, on the heels of her husband's release from prison, she is encouraging others who find themselves in similar situations to fight for their lives.
Susan Walters of Portland, Oregon, was known as Susan Kuhnhausen back in 2006 when her then-husband Michael Kuhnhausen sent a hit man to murder her. Susan bravely fought back and wound up killing the hit man with her bare hands.
"His last words on this earth were 'you're strong,'" recalled Susan Walters to KPTV.
Walters says when she came home from her shift as an ER nurse one night, she found the man, Edward Haffey, waiting inside her home.
"Not having any clue why he was in my home, I knew, I could feel his intent to kill me," said Walters.
For 14 minutes, Walters put up an incredible fight against Haffey. She grabbed a hammer and used the back end of it to fight him off. At one point, she offered to call an ambulance if he relented, but he continued to fight back, so Walters had no choice but to kill him.
"I got the hammer and started hitting him with the hammer several times,” recalled Walters in 2006. “My father, the carpenter, always taught me a hammer could be used for self defense - the claw end would work the best.”
It was eventually uncovered that Michael Kuhnhausen had paid Haffey $50,000 to murder Walters. Kuhnhausen was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2007, but now, only eight years after the ordeal, the man who tried so desperately to kill his wife may walk out of jail a free man in just a few months. Walters says that although she is frightened by the idea of her former husband getting out of prison, she is ready to fight back if need be.
"Although I've forgiven my ex-husband for what he became, and what he did to me and all those who he loved, I cannot forget what he's capable of," said Walters, while offering advice to others in similar situations. "If you feel like, 'wow I don't feel like I can do that.' You can. You're stronger than you know.”
Walters is reportedly planning to approach the parole board to ensure that should he be released this year, she will remain protected.
“... bet she will serve more time in prison...”
I’d PAY to be on that jury, friend.
Let’s see.... Victimized woman, evil man hiring a hitman to kill her, the poor helpless woman... and now threatened by her husband again...
Nope. There’s not a jury in the world that will convict her.
My mother carried a .38 SW snubbie wherever she went, for YEARS without asking permission from the state (She’s gone now, so she’s out of reach).
She used to say “Let them try. I’ll have my day in court.”
She was old-school American tough.
“...I tell people who are against guns: Try having your life threatened. Your opinion on guns will change in a nano-second. That is the only thing I thought about the entire time: I wish I had a gun I wish I had a gun I wish I had a gun. ...”
That’s pretty much the standard reaction to life-threatening situations, my friend. I’m glad you’re still here.
Carry anyway. Quietly, and discretely. If you have to use it, you at least have a fighting chance. If you don’t have it, you’re dead.
That’s a REAL easy choice to make.
When the law endangers my life, I’m under no obligation to obey it. Competing Harms.
If we’re to call ourselves Free Men, we should behave like Free Men.
Your hammer comment is clawing for more hits.
I’ll repeat what I posted to GrandJediMasterYoda:

And don’t beg. They’re OUR servants, and we can and WILL throw their asses out on the street ultimately - one way or the other. It’s coming to it, because of them, not us.
As a firearms instructor, when people ask me “what should I do when I can’t carry?” I tell them everyone has to make that choice for themselves.
Choices have consequences, but it is still a choice, and you either choose to obey - and endanger your life, especially if you work or commute through sh*thole neighborhoods - or not.
I’ve got a family to take care of. My life means more to make than making some stupid subversive lib feel good.
So, as I said - that’s an easy choice. Pretty much period.
Good for you Susan.
Isn’t amazing what can be done with an assault hammer? That is why they should be outlawed.
One summer when I was a teen I visited an uncle and his family in another distant city. After the summer I decided I would like to stay and my uncle got me a job at the biggest bakery in town. My job preparing bread pans(greasing) was the lowest of low with tremendous effects on my clothing, shoes to shirt. No sooner had I started then union goons got to my uncle that I hadn’t joined the union and paid my dues. My uncle got me off the hook by telling the goons that I would be working only that summer to get enough money for books and keep. Ever since I have had a bad memories of unions. My mother went through the early 1930s with union problems and my experience at the bakery let me understand some of her pain and tears.
Your union thugs were much more civilized than my union thugs. I tried reasoning with the union before they threatened me, and they told me to join or quit even if I would lose a lot of money on the deal (the union did so little that they guaranteed minimum wage for the first three months, and their cut including the fee for joining would have been more than half of my summer take home pay). I quit at the 30 day mark, as required by the union's contract, and then got rehired on the following Monday arguing that I should have another 30 days since I had just been hired. They were very annoyed by my methods.
you clearly don’t. you misread it to give yourself an excuse to be an ass.
yes i did go and read it tenderized him with a hammer then went for a arm bar and then went for the lapd special

It’s nice to see that at least *one* person used to take his work seriously, y’know, before one of his “jobs” killed him. Nice work, killin’ his sorry ass. The husband should have gone to the gallows. Thanks Responsibility2nd. From the FRchives:
