Dodgers outfielder's antics are those of one young man's first taste of freedom
Before you pile on atop irresponsible diva-punk-jerk Yasiel Puig, absorb a few random stories about the difficulties in his kind of transition:
Luis Castillo once set off a fire alarm in an American hotel, thinking it was a shampoo dispenser...
Rene Arocha felt his knees give -- actually felt faint and almost passed out -- the first time he walked into a grocery store and saw so many aisles of food...

Technically, it's his second taste.
He should have already learned how one should comport oneself when being paid bookoo dollars to play in The Bigs.
Puig Derangement Syndrome s going strong.
I think it would help if the Dodgers had a competent manager.
Sliding into first base has always been a bad idea. They must not learn that in the turd world countries.
The Justin Bieber of baseball.
Obviously - the posts above indicate that some of you did not read, understand or comprehend what was written in the article. You don’t know what it is like to come from nothing to something, be discovered by accident and thrust on a new cultural scene. Try riding a raft from Cuba to Mexico - check in with us and tell us how you did that.

s, Dodger ping....
With a name like that he should try and fly under the radar.....
How so?
Every game he shows up late, suspend him one game. Discipline is the only cure for his diva-punk-jerk immaturity. I have his Rookie card just in case he ends up being an all-time great.
Hope Puig matures quickly. If so, he has a great future in baseball.
From an Angels fan.
He acts immature and spoiled. I mean showing up late for the opening day at Dodger Stadium is the equivalent to Justin showing up late to his concerts.
It just lacks professionalism.
The comparisons are inapt, because all of them relate to people whose natural humility led them to do silly things rather than bother other people with questions about culture or technology they suspected a child was expected to know. Those mitigating factors don't apply to Puig.
Puig has a driver's license. That means he's passed a driver's test, which includes demonstration of written or spoken understanding of the vehicle code. Yet he's been caught going -- what, over 100 miles an hour? -- not once, but twice.
Puig is a newcomer to this country, and we can certainly cut him some slack. But he wasn't born yesterday. Cuba may be a hellhole, but there are still grown ups there. Puig was 22 when he arrived here. He was already old enough to know better than to do some of the things he's done.
