What if you were forced to “register” in order to buy groceries? And what if, through that registration, the food you bought could be tracked and quantities could be limited?
That’s exactly the plan in Venezuela right now. The AP reports that in an effort to crack down on “hoarding” that ID cards will be issued to families. These will have to be presented before foodstuffs can be purchased.

Marijuana is illegal in most of the nation, and there is a billion dollar industry just in growing it here in the US. The feds can't stop that, they can't stop people from growing gardens.
And the percentage of law enforcement is much less than 5% of the population. Law enforcement, local, state, and federal, not counting military, is about 500,000.
After the first few teams get ambushed, it's going to be difficult to find volunteers for the teams.

More than likely, there will be no power and the govn. won't able to do squat to you plus cops plus military men will go home and care for their family since there won't be any communication possible and their family won't have any water and food with them gone. You go ahead and do no prepping.
Look at Nazi Germany. They would still be in power now if not for external interference.
The communists held russia for 80 years where every garden was appropriated and they did it with much less technology than today.
The communists did the same in China for 30 years.
The govt. can and will do it. Eventually, all communist govts. fail, IF YOU WANT TO WAIT 3-7 DECADES.
We also have the history of the 20th century as a cautionary tale.
Government may be able to control some of the liberal enclaves on the east and west coasts, but it just won't work in fly-over country.
People will die, but government would be foolish to try it, and professional military men, familiar with logistics, will caution against it.

This is true as long as a certain number of citizens don't resist with deadly force. The LEO’s will win the fight but getting shot at a couple of times a day definitely degrades morale. This is stark, but if it comes to this Americans are faced with the choice the Jews of eastern Europe were after 1940 or the ‘Kulaks’ had after 1930. People who will round up civilians or engage in food seizure actions are contemptible bullies and they know it and their morale is not that robust. Seeing one of your number get his or her face blown off by a load of 12 gage 00 shot would be definite downer. Having people snipe at you and fire on your vehicles and occasionally fight it out to the death would be very hard to sustain over any length of time. It would also lead to a slow moving but eventual general insurrection. The uniformed bullies leaders often exaggerate how much power they really can wield in a country as big as this one with as much open space as we have.
You are really stupid if you think Americans are like Russian peasants who had no firearms and Russian citizens who had no firearms. Cops will go home since they are no match for many with firearms and they will want to save their famlies. You may or must be a freaking liberal without firearms or sense and no water or food stored. Wait for FEMA to show up and save your butt. There won't be any FEMA either since those folks will also go home.
And if they lose one member of their force, lets say, on every fifth garden, how long do you think they’ll keep that up?
