The Jews didn't have firearms like Americans do.
And what will the government do with a couple of hundred dollars worth of food that they just spent $10,000 confiscating? Fielding troops isn't cheap.
Governments aren't as effective as you seem to think they are. In fact, they are pretty screwed up. That's why they contract out anything complicated.

In a genuine meltdown, there won’t be any police or tanks and Jews had no weapons. Unless you tell them, no one will know whether you have food or not. Danger will come from people like you who have no preps. Too bad you’re not very smart.
After the first few, people with gardens will learn not to be home when the harvesters come-a-calling.
And eventually those in the tank will need to exit said tank...

We are not the Jews who thought it wouldn’t get that bad. It is getting that bad, and will get worse.
Some will die, more than a few, but if you think for one damn minute that seeing people hanging from a lamp post as as example to others will destroy peoples moral, you are sadly mistaken.
People are fuming right now, and madness is coming on slowly. I cannot speak for the other parts of the Country, but I know what my part,the South, will do, and we’ll do it with a Rebel Yell that hasn’t been heard since the Civil War, and we will not be stopped.

Comparing Europeans to Americans is like comparing apples to peaches. One culture is like the apple seeds, formerly feudal and traditionally landless and politically powerless unarmed peasants persecuted for centuries into submissive behavior and separated in purpose by opposing rulers. The other, like the pit of a peach - armed and self-determined landowners from the beginning, conditioned for centuries to walk tall with independence of spirit, and with a heritage of challenging tyranny face-on and in numbers. America will never be a Europe any more than an apple can become a peach.
You forget that many Americans are descended from people who were both willing to cross the Atlantic Ocean in small wooden boats for a chance to prosper from the sweat of their own brow, and strong and industrious to actually make a go of it.
Europeans are descended from those who stayed behind.
