One of the big problems in America today is that a lot of people simply do not seem to care about what they are doing anymore. The level of sloth, laziness and apathy that we are witnessing in this country is absolutely mind-numbing. Of course this is not true of everyone. There are still many Americans that are extremely hard working. But overall, it really appears that people are not taking as much pride in their work as they once did. Some of the examples that I am about to show you are quite funny. Others are more than just a little bit disturbing. But they all have a common theme. Americans from all walks of life are simply giving up. Whether they are teachers, delivery people or fast food workers, the truth is that there are a whole lot of people out there that seem to have mentally checked out.
For example, in the YouTube video that I have posted below, you can watch a postal worker drive her truck on to someone's lawn. She is so lazy that she doesn't even have the energy to take a few steps and place the package at the customer's door...
And in this next YouTube video, another postal worker does not even get out of his truck. He just carelessly tosses a package (which could contain something very expensive) toward the customer's home...
What would cause someone to act like that?
What has caused so many Americans to no longer take any pride in their work?
Another place where this can be seen frequently is at fast food restaurants...
For instance, the photo that I have posted below of a Wendy's employee gulping down soft serve ice cream with his mouth under the Frosty dispenser went viral on the Internet a while back...
I don't know about you, but to me that is absolutely disgusting. Needless to say, that worker quickly lost his job.
And of course there is no shortage of other fast food horror stories out there.
The following is one of my favorite examples...
Tony Hill, a pastor in Baltimore, Maryland, once got a deep-fried mouse along with his chicken at Popeye's. The old "I found a rat in my fried chicken!" urban legend is decades old - this particular story was given a little credence, however, by the fact that local health authorities confirmed that the Popeye's in question had a rodent problem.
These days even the criminals are getting lazy.
The following story is very tragic. Violent crime in America is on the rise, and as the economy continues to get worse people are going to steal just about anything that is not bolted down.
In the little town of Denison, Iowa, a couple of thugs recently shot and killed an elderly couple while they were attempting to steal some scrap metal...
A Denison man told investigators that he and another man shot two people, then set fire to a trailer with the victims inside, according to court documents.
Jayden Chapman said he and Michael D. Schenk shot Marvin Huelsing, 80, and Alice Huisenga, 81, on Monday, according to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed in Crawford County District Court.
This is the kind of thing that we are going to see a lot more frequently in the years ahead.
Those thugs thought that they would get away with murder by burning the victims inside their own trailer, but they foolishly left behind a receipt from the Wal-Mart where they had just been shopping at the scene of the crime...
A pickup truck more than 200 yards north of the trailer also was burned. Near it, investigators found on the ground a receipt from the Denison Walmart with a debit-card number from a food-stamp card. Authorities determined the card was assigned to Schenck.
In this case, justice was served by the slothfulness of the American people, and I hope that those murderers are given the highest penalty allowed by law.
But in general, slothfulness is a terrible thing. And it isn't just a few people that are being slothful. This is a national disease. I like how Jim Quinn put it in his recent article...
The government controlled public education system has flourished beyond all expectations of your owners. We’ve become a nation of techno-narcissistic, math challenged, reality TV distracted, welfare entitled, materialistic, gluttonous, indebted consumers of Chinese slave labor produced crap.
But even though so many of us are aware of what is happening to us, we just can't seem to break out of it as a nation.
It really does seem like most people are walking around in a fog these days.
Maybe the fact that 70 million Americans are on mind-altering drugs has something to do with it.
I don't know.
But unless Americans start taking more pride in their work again and start living their lives with meaning and purpose, it is going to be very difficult to envision a positive future for this country.

Said to contact Consumer Affairs, which i sent email to with order #, but they never got back to me.
Called national help, which gave me a case number and said they would contact me in 24hrs, but never did.
Plus i ordered forever stamps, 2-3 day priority mail it says, but took 2 weeks (well, they did say they were forever stamps).
And i am just outside the capital of my state.
Plus other mails items have been arriving around 2 weeks late.
Forgot to add the Amazon replaced the order to got it there within 3 days. Thank God and good for them.
I think the big reason why people don’t care is because for many they are locked into their jobs. They cannot advance, so why try.
It used to be that you could take the lowest job in the company and, through hard work, have the opportunity to advance. That’s largely not the case any more.
IMO, It's because you didn't build that
— meaning that the authorities (government, big business bosses, community leaders, etc) do not value the productions, the work, of those under them.
To illustrate: when I was in the National Guard and deployed to assist with New Orleans after Katrina I was assigned KP and other such duties (hey, somebody's got to do it) — anyway as I was mopping the dining-area floor there were some officers sitting at a table talking, I asked that when they leave they use the other door to avoid walking on the portion of the floor already mopped if they had to leave while the floor was still wet... well, of course it is unreasonable to ask them to take a detour of, what, 80 feet... because they walked all over the floor right after I asked.
So, in short it is that the authority demands respect yet gives none in return.

Seems like most of the examples given are either government employees who can’t be fired, or minimum wage employees who don’t care if they are fired.

I disagree. The Chinese and many Central Americans will work hard for decades without really advancing. It is because the kids are spoiled and lack character. Lots of them get bored even playing sports after 30 minutes. Take away all media, give them work to do before school and after, as in the days of an agrarian economy. And keep them in church that preaches the Prot work ethic.

America was never like that. There was never some golden age of great times that we need to get back to.
I have complained to the his superiors at the post office to no avail. I've been counting the days until he retires.
That is a very pertinent point. It is one of the downsides of a static economy. Promotion prospects generally are very low and with few jobs around people are less able to take a chance on getting another one.
All this comes from an original source, how do we view the essential nature of man? The conservative, as an inheritor of the Judeo-Christian tradition views man as a fallen creature, a sinful creature, one who is in need of education, yes, but more importantly a creature in need of redemption. The leftist sees man as a tabula rasa, an empty field upon which society, led by elite leftists, can with proper stimulation (think of rats in a Skinner box) condition the individual into conformity with the values of the mass.
So John Dewey starts in kindergarten and eliminates merit from a list of virtues taught to children, indeed, the whole concept of good and evil, merit and the lack of it, and especially competition are systematically eradicated from the child's world. Although it comes from a leftist, the old joke about all children being above average is too revealing to be funny.
The whole thrust of the liberal criminal justice system is to eliminate the idea of guilt and culpability and substitute rehabilitation. In the process, guilt is generalized, the individual is exculpated in society is blamed.
The process of generalizing from the individual to the mass is applied by leftists across the board and we see it in spades in the workplace. It is in the interests of employers to find and fix fault and correct them to increase efficiency and profit but it is in the interest of the politician to insinuate himself into that process and distort it so that he dominates the process. So we see a plethora of rules, regulations, union influence etc. all of which tend to see the employee not as an individual but as a unit of a greater mass. The whole idea of collective bargaining is to destroy individual responsibility as it destroys the relationship between master and servant. The politician wants the employee beholden to him so he devises a system which recognizes the employee as part of the mass beholden to the politician rather than the employer. In the process individual responsibility is lost.
Dennis Prager was absolutely right when he said that your view of politics depends on your view of the nature of man.
My grandfather went to work in the mines when he was 14. He owned his own mine by the time he was 40. He had a 3rd grade education. My dad owned 1/2 the co. by 1957 and the rest in ‘62. My family has produced several engineers, a lawyer(black sheep), school teachers, a cpa, several upper level executives in fortune 500 cos., and several multimillionaires, along with a colonel in the army. Big family, 13 children and adopted 2 others. All this from a hillbilly whose dad died when he was 8 and he along with his mother provided for his 6 siblings until they got old enough provide for themselves then he left to seek his fortune at age 14. When grandad died he had a pretty good chunk of change a farm and 2 small businesses he started after retirement. Don’t know where you are from but here it is still possible. Maybe you believe in one of the ism’s that don’t allow you to dream of what might be possible.
Some companies penalize initiative due to some misguided belief that it costs them money.
Example: the site I work at has a stack of air filters for the ductwork that will never be used as management honestly believes that taking a filter off the stack and using it as advised somehow costs money.
Yes, they believe that utilizing an already purchased filter costs money.
So when a member of maintenance changed an air filter, he got screamed at for somehow costing them money.
By replacing a filter with one already bought and paid for on hand.
So there sits an entire stack, useless.
Until they get listed as excess and thrown in the trash.
I’m not saying that there was a golden age, but there used to be a time when it was much easier. Many baby boomers, for example, are doing quite well despite having no more than a high school diploma.
Today, that high school diploma is hardly worth wiping your behind with it.

Not to defend her actions, but I imagine that this isnt the only house she had to deliver packages to. More like hundreds on a daily basis. Those few steps from her vehicle to the front door and back to her vehicle may be few for any house, but all those hundreds of houses put together adds up to thousands of steps and alot of energy.
Well ... it is depressing on the whole ... but I look at my daughters who work their butts off ... they were taught good values. My youngest works 80 hours a week and is well compensated for her effort and respected by her company and co-workers. My middle daughter runs her consulting company from home while raising her three small children and managing to have a fine marriage. My eldest travels the world singing opera and manages a great marriage and a business when not singing. They all graduated from great colleges ... summa cum laude ... on scholarship ... while working. Effort ... effort ... effort. I am now fairly housebound and need look no further than my front porch to see honor, work ethic and effort ... I have the greatest UPS driver on the planet ... he has delivered over 250 Amazon packages in the last six months ... nothing damaged .. never late. It’s not over yet ... there are still great stories out there!
