Were I their customer, I would be asking the billing department how they are going to prorate my monthly charges. In fact, I would be INSISTING on a discounted bill for the time I did not get service.

I, too, have Comcast as an ISP. I am looking for another provider.

If ever an industry needed deregulation, this is a prime one. No justification for the continued lack of competition. I despise Comcast, and my only other choice is ATT because it comes through the fiber optic phone line.

Same Company owns NBC Universal which includes NBC and MSNBC. Enough said.

I dumped Comcrap in December of 2012. Couldn’t be happier.

Switch to Verizon Fios. I have had them for years and think they are the best company out there. I always hear my fellow colleagues complain about Comcast. I have gotten a few to change to Verizon Fios and the accolades I get is amazing.

Brian Roberts, 55, inherited Comcast from his Daddy Ralph. He does not have a “board” to answer to as the company is privately held. Therefore, he is the largest “Individual” media controller in the US. Put simply, he has final say on what more people see or don’t see on US TV than any other breathing person on earth.

He also is one of Obama’s biggest supporters and donates big bucks to him.

What else do you need to know?!

Cox Cable does the same.

Whenever my internet connection gets glitchy or eratic, it is usually them doing something. Sometimes, it goes on for weeks before they ‘get it right’.

Last year, I also had trouble with the On-Demand part of the TV cable. Any time I would try to watch something, it would revert to a ‘sorry, that is not available at this time’ notice. They had been doing some upgrades earlier.

It is aggravating, but there is no alternative cable, and the wireless/satellite services are much higher priced for less service.

I get 200gb internet downloads per month, while wireless offers 5gb for the same cost.

I’ve got TWC. Think it’s bad now? Wait until that nightmare merger goes through. Talk about something that will ruin cable and Internet for all of us ... it’s that.

Just how would prior knowledge change your day? Would it just make you feel better or more important? It’s Internet. Go outside. Do something other than sit on your ass and complain about the lack of Internet. Jeez, talk about sheeple. If the SHTF you’d be one of the first goners.

I worked for Comcast as a Business Account Executive in Sonoma-Marin area for 6 months. Great product, but I left the company because the customer service was beyond horrible. Unfortunately, most of the alternatives aren’t all that better. I’d recommend Sonic.net if they’re in Marin....

IIRC Comcast/Xfinity has a planned outage announcement on it’s homepage after you log in. They may even send an email to your Comcast address.

I am not positive because I only check those pages when making the outrageous payments.

Then again I must add our Comcast triple play hasn’t been bad. After we moved to an apartment a few years ago we found zero OTA TV because a huge hill blocks digital signals. Our only option was Comcast which we had dumped at our house.

Considering the apartment complex owners are reluctant to let anyone rewire the building Comcast hasn’t done a bad job after I complained of a few things.

We get most all of the HD channels plus quite a few regular ones. Sometimes but not often there is rfi interference, from our eleictric reclining couch and chair for example, but only on a few channels and it is temporary.

Phone has been wonderful, much better than our cell service.

Internet dl averages around 20-25 mbps with highs over 50 and lows around 12. Comcaast advertises 16 so I am satisfied.

Bill is around $130/month which I think is high but we have been using the service more than we did at our house and our grown kids have had ...and dumped...Verizon, Direct and Dish at higher cost.

I wish Comcast offered a few channels like RFD but OTOH we do get Pennsyvania Cable News Channel, PCNC, that broadcasts live the PA farm show and other statewide events including the legislature.

All in all we are content for the time with Comcast.

Two words: Direct TV

We had to say adios to Comcast about 5 years ago. Too expensive and goes out too much.

When you do switch ISPs, and if you need a "home" phone, get Ooma. It's awesome. $140 for the unit then about 3 bucks a month for the Fed taxes.

Basically a free phone line with excellent sound quality and reliability. And if there is an Internet outage, you can tell it to route your calls to your cell.

I was skeptical at first, but I can't find a thing wrong with it.

Also I agree that Roku 3 is great for streaming TV.

Just something to consider if you can get a new Internet service provider.

When you call customer service ask them to transfer you to retention. Explain your problem to retention and let them know you’re a long time customer and would like to continue with their service but you’re frustrated with their customer service and outages, planned or unplanned. Then let them know that your bill has been going up but your services have remained to same or decreased. You’ve been getting offers from uverse, wide open west, verizon fios, or whatever the competitor is in your area. Tell them you’d love to stay with them but are looking elsewhere for the reasons above. They’ll check you payment history and depending on how timely you are on paying your bill they’ll make a deal with you. If they don’t want to make a deal you should switch services. They’ll call you back in about a month with a better deal.

In DE, my service has been intermittent since I cancelled cable TV. Friday, I called and they said no reports of problems. Anywhere else in the country?

Back when I had TWC in Texas I worked night shift. I get home turn on TV and they would “reset” the system every night/early AM 01:00-03:00. It would take about 45 or so mins. This was just TV BTW.

I called to complain and was told by the dipstick on the other end “not my problem” , click.

Went to DirecTV and never looked back.

Do You have a cell phone that can Hotspot? If You have 4G service try that.

Also the cell companies all have a dedicated unit just for .net service.

You’ll have to check the pricing/data amount for each.

Useage will depend on what You use the .net for.
