When you call customer service ask them to transfer you to retention. Explain your problem to retention and let them know you’re a long time customer and would like to continue with their service but you’re frustrated with their customer service and outages, planned or unplanned. Then let them know that your bill has been going up but your services have remained to same or decreased. You’ve been getting offers from uverse, wide open west, verizon fios, or whatever the competitor is in your area. Tell them you’d love to stay with them but are looking elsewhere for the reasons above. They’ll check you payment history and depending on how timely you are on paying your bill they’ll make a deal with you. If they don’t want to make a deal you should switch services. They’ll call you back in about a month with a better deal.
