Evan Sayet: To Today’s Modern Liberal Journalists, Objective Reporting is an Act of Bigotry
Rage Against the Media ^ | 3/18/2014

Posted on 03/19/2014 6:18:03 PM PDT by Beave Meister

In his speech last January at the Conservative Forum in Silicon Valley, Evan Sayet addressed the question of “Why the Mainstream Media gets Every Major Story Not Just Wrong But as Wrong as Wrong Can Be.”

The short answer to the question about the media’s utter, complete and total failure, Sayet claims, is that to today’s “journalists,” “It’s an act of bigotry, to be an objective reporter.”

This is the line that Rush Limbaugh, in his hour-long rhapsodizing on the speech, called “brilliant,” saying “I wish I’d thought of it myself.”

Rush’s plaudits aside (indeed, he has cited Sayet’s speech at least 5 times since that day ) we owe it to ourselves to be objective and ask: Is it true? Do today’s journalists see objectivity as bigotry? And if they have, as he asserts, gotten every major story in recent decades completely wrong, does this explain it?

The truth shall set you free — but our world seems to want to be in chains.

Reality is racist and bigoted because it doesn't support the post modernist, neo Communist framework of the drive by media.

If we can't destroy reality with bombs (though are Muslim friends are trying very hard), then at least destroy reality through the irredeemable corruption of language; i.e., PC new speak.

Those who attend Journalism School do so with stars in their eyes as they want to be like their heroes, Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford in All The President's Men (yes, they probably believe those two were the ones who "got" Nixon, not Woodward and Bernstein...).

They wish to "make a difference" by being at the center of a story exposing some big scandal, writing a book about it (then star in the big-budget motion picture), but only as long as it helps to weaken the wicked people on the Right. It is unwritten code that you never expose anything bad on the Left ('cuz there really isn't any, right (wink, wink)?)

That is journalism today.

Today’s Leftist Media agrees with Obama, and therefore we do not have any investigation by the Media into the IRS targeting their political opposites. If Bush had put the IRS onto Leftist organizations, then it would b story one every day until now, and far into the future.

It is natural to twist the news a bit to fit your prejudices. However, the media today goes way beyond twisting by outright lying, refusing to report legitimate and important stories and by enthusiastically leading the ridicule of their political opponents. A somewhat open internet brings balance only to those who look for it. Even here Facebook, Google, et al direct the casual news reader back to the approved narrative.

Lol! When I went to J school back in the 90s we watched in class All the President’s Men and had to read the New York Times! I can only imagine what they watch now & require students to read...

When I was a child we had to read Mother Jones and walk 5 miles through snow uphill each way.

Then, to those that call themselves ‘journalists’, but refuse to perform ‘objective reporting’, you owe it to every American school student, in every English Composition class, an open apology, for their having to go through the grinding ritual of:
“Who, what, where, why, when, and how”.

Evan Sayet first publicly articulated these concepts back in 2007 at the Heritage Foundation.

” In this, the single most seen lecture in Heritage Foundation’s history — a talk Andrew Breitbart called, “One of the five most important conservative speeches ever given” — Evan lays the foundation for what would soon become known as the “Unified Field Theory of Liberalism” and how and why that ideology leads the Left to side only and always with evil over good, wrong over right, ugly over beautiful, profane over profound and the behaviors that lead to failure over those that lead to success.”

I have taken his concepts and those of a few others to define the left as someone that “embraces uncertainty”. To be “Certain” is to judge and to judge is wrong in their eyes.

Ever notice how left seems immune to their own hypocrisy and contradictions?

Those logical contradictions don’t register with them. If they are forced to address them, they respond by attacking the person that points them out.

This is from years of indoctrination in moral relativism and the peer pressure of being politically correct.

Interestingly enough, they can point to “modern Science” and the endless unprovable theories based in quantum physics that support their worldview which ultimately has no foundation.

In their mind, uncertainty is the only thing you can be certain of.

go figure.

In addition to the link above and from the OP, I would recommend watching this:

No Science, No Logic and No Morality: Atheism.

This young man is at least honest. He is actually very intelligent, but is completely misguided. He is from Cornell University. If you do a little research you may find the videos of William Provine, R.I.P., a former Cornell Professor, that express these beliefs without reservation.

Saw the speech on C-Span - not only hard-hitting, but entertaining too - Sayet was once a stand-up comedian - have his book “KinderGarden of Eden: How the Modern Liberal Thinks” on my birthday wish list for next week - looking forward to it.....

I’m starting to think the answer to the Founder’s question is “no - people do NOT want to be free.
