The seasonally adjusted price index for uncooked ground beef jumped 3.8 percent from January to February, as the average price for a pound of 100-percent ground chuck rose from approximately $3.59 in January to a new record high of $3.73 in February, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The BLSs seasonally adjusted price index measures the relative change in the price of product from a baseline of 100. From January to February, the price index for uncooked ground beef rose from 248.864 to 258.323, its highest level ever. The 258.323 price index also indicates that the seasonally adjusted price for ground beef is almost twice what it was in January 2001 when the price index was 130.4.

Well what does anyone expect? When we refuse growers water for crops to protect some asinine fish and we use corn for a crappy fuel substitute instead of feed for livestock what other results can there be?
Just wait, the swine industries are battling a virus that kills 80 to 100% of the piglets. It is going to make the price of all meat high.
Bush’s fault.
I haven’t bought hamburger, or any beef, since sometime in early 2013, maybe longer.
I recall seeing a statistic that just since this last January there has been an increase in most commodities costs:
cattle : +27%
pork : +25%
Grains : +17%
Coffee : +67%
HealthCare: Ha,ha,ha !!
Interestingly enough , the price of food and fuels is no longer included in the INFLATION INDEX .
Read somewhere that because of the exceptionally cold winter, ranchers were loosing a large percentage of their cattle. This could be the reason for the higher prices for anything beef.
Yeah , I heard about that pork virus that kills so many of the piglets.
I had heard that it was killing all of the piglets where it was found ; I hadn't heard that some piglets survived.
And the cattle farms that got caught in the winter bilzzard still haven't recovered.
Expect the price of all meat, fish , and seafood to increase this year.
Those are wholesale prices for hamburger, not retail
Meanwhile, that POS in the White Hut is eating all the ground beagle that he wants!
“Where’s Beaks?”

Never mind Wag-you Beagle.
Gave it up some 33-34 years ago. Poultry & fish (and cheese) since. Only later did I realize it in a sacrificial sense to God.
Ah, another index to measure hopey-change. Little barry is such a master don’tchaknow.
The other day when I was making a big batch of pintos, I couldn’t help but think about how much better some beef would be.
Is that the first, or the last part of the chicken that crossed the fence ?
Not good for marrow , therefore not good for stew
I would surmize that it is as nutrious as "stone soup ", or "chicken foot soup"
Beaks are only as good as the "greens" they are servd with, and the greens are the only nutritious part !!
Or as Nancy Peouusey said : " Embrase the suck !! "
The only problem with the coffeee is that it will keep you up at night !!
