Anyone else have issues with Windowsupdate for Windows? (Vanity)
How to Solve Connection Problems for Windows 8 ^

Posted on 03/13/2014 11:46:37 AM PDT by Red in Blue PA

I upgraded to Windows 8 about 4 months ago, and about a month ago, I started having issues with windowsupdate where the windowsupdate screen would open but everything in the screen was white, where there it normally tells you what patches you need. I tried several routes, including the Windows Update Troubleshooter found at the link above. The Windows Update Troubleshooter seems to be running, but it never comes to an end.....the blue bar just keeps rolling.....for hours if I let it. It says "Resolving problems" but nothing gets resolved. Nothing I tried worked, and so I rolled back the system several weeks ago and upon doing so was able to see and download the updates for windows once again.

Well, now the same issue is back. And when I try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter, of course the blue bar simply keeps rolling and never stops.

Anyone else have this issue? I really do not want to have to rollback the system every month.

I am running a dual core Pentium laptop with 6GB of RAM so resources should not be an issue.

I have Windows 8 and have never had this problem.
Only time I’ve had it in the past was on chips other than Pentium. Some would choke on the updates.

Sounds almost like the same problem I had trying to install office.

The idiots at MS weren’t smart enough to know not everyone in the world has the same super high speed internet connection as they have.

The internet connection is fine.....it is just that the Connection Manager is either stuck or not working.

Yep. I put W8 on my M11x and Windows Update cacked it, and I had to reinstall.

If it’s the same problem I had the internet connection will be fine, you will stay connected, MS just basically stops sending info.

After about 3 hours with tech help I was starting to understand Indian pretty good and basically MS has a download speed you can’t match.

After MS download speed overwhelms your computer a couple of times it shuts itself off and apparently keeps looking for a signal that matches their download speed.

It never finds anything to match because you can never match their speed.

Me?

No, I have not had any problems at all with the Windows update.

I implemented a simple fix to all those update problems about three years back or so...

I switched to APPLE.

Similar things happen in Linux. I installed the latest Fedora release and Yum had to be killed each time i ran it, because something was locked up, thought nothing extra was running .

Looked a lot on line, and saw lots of questions and no real solutions. So in install Xubuntu which is better and works. Thank God for variety.

Yea, I had some similar problems with Linux. I have not had similar problems with OSX/iOS though.

Working on the GF’s win 7 machine aggravates the Hell out of me. I did my DOS/Windows time. I’m done, and real happy about it.
