'INTERFERENCE': Pilot in another plane was flying 30 minutes ahead of MH370 SEPANG: A BOEING 777 pilot, who was flying 30 minutes ahead of the missing Malaysia Airlines     aircraft, said he established contact with    MH370  minutes  after  he   was    asked to do so by  Vietnamese air traffic control. The captain, who asked to not be named, said his plane, which was bound for Narita, Japan, was far into Vietnamese airspace when he was asked to relay, using his plane's emergency frequency, to MH370 for the latter to establish its position, as the authorities could not contact the aircraft. "We managed to establish contact with MH370 just after 1.30am and asked them if they have transferred into Vietnamese airspace.

There is a report or two of there not being a crash. Report regarding Ho Chi Mien City mentions fireball like a meteor then ground contact. Area inaccessible at this time 100 miles north of Ho Chi Mien City due to weather? and or terrain. Nothing concrete.

Amount of fuel dumped. Altitude. Wind.

The golfer’s plane was on radar and flew past where it was supposed to land. A military jet was sent up and the pilot could see people were unconscious. Plus, from what I’ve read the pilots on the big planes have to take over from the auto pilot to make corrections ever now and then. Apparently that isn’t necessary in a Gulfstream.

121.5hmz and 243mhz are indeed monitored and recorded by several satellites.

Those are the aviation emergency frequencies...civil and military.

I had asked the same question earlier, it appears the 2 hr. mark was(if not erroneous altogether)when the aircraft was deemed to actually be missing by the airline.

...while actual loss of signal was(+/-)40 min. after T.O.(Flight24 ADS-B plotting)

...at least that's how I interpreted the timeline up till now.

Hmmmm, not exactly perfect english. But then, like in all things, perception and interpretation in the eye of the beholder

He uses the term "connection." Thats a formal word a non english person would use. The rest of us would have said, we lost "contact"

Thats a phrase a non native english speaker would use. Too formal. First they would have spoken to the crew in their native language in Malay. For the media which he should not even be talking too per company rules, he would never ask, he would have told the crew, hey, Vietnam Radio up on frequency, he would have made sure they had the proper frequency, and said to call or relay a message.

So when he say heard "mumbling" in the background, it can mean anything anybody wants it to mean. It could be interference, most probable, it could be the captain explaining to the first officer what message to relay, it could mean a land shark has jumped up and is ready to bite them.

In any case, they flew 70 minutes after that without making contact. Obviously at one moment, the radios were working. In that moment, all they had to do was change to the common frequency, referred to in the article as the emergency frequency and make contact with Vietnam Radio. They did not. Why not?

For full disclosure, i live and work here in Bangkok last nine years. I fly this airspace and work with and listen to these very fine folks

Think report I mentioned earlier from/of north of Ho Chi Mien City is bogus ... Weather looks fine in the area and is hot (880) and cloudless. I also agree with your timeline.

Loss of signal 40 minutes after takeoff?

That piece of data is the most sense of all the data i had read so far. And is probably most accurate. I thought i read they had just reached top of climb then disappeared. Top of climb depending on stairstepping et all takes 25 to 30 minutes. That makes 40 minutes and the location they are looking at more reasonable.

First report i read said disappearing two hours after departure. Arghhhh why do i even read all the bs immediately after an incident or crash. Half of it is bs.

Anyone have any idea of the capabilities of the Vietnamese and Malaysian radar systems(particularly range)?

I find it somewhat odd that the time contact was lost with the airplane, it was almost exactly halfway between Vietnam and Malaysia(I assume roughly halfway between both country’s nearest ground radar stations).

Is it even conceivable, in the realm of possibility, for a 777 to be able and fly low enough to evade obsolete radar?

The airplane supposedly started out with enough fuel for a 2,300 mile flight. Dump a little at low altitude to throw off the world, make new bearing, and head to anywhere within a 2,000 mile radius and obsolete radar.

Oh yeah, but then you’d have to find an unassuming place to land a 777. Right.

OK, got enough use out of the tin foil hat for at least the next 6 months.

Can they please find some actual evidence toward the location of the missing plane now, please.

Yeah, I noticed today's flight(same Flt#/typeAC MH370/772)showed a flight plan which looks to include step altitudes(F290,F330,F350,F390)in it.

In China and Russian airspace, only foreign pilots are spoken to in English. Pain in the butt listening to several languages on frequency.

But the point is, while all pilots / controllers are required to meet and speak a certain level of english, many many pilots flying do not meet that level. For many retesting is required i believe every two years?? Not sure

And even for those who meet that level, their understanding of proper verbs and adjectives can be found wanting specially when under duress. I have to remind myself on a regular basis, that the receiver of my communication most likely did not get the full understanding of my message, even when they appear to speak "perfect" english.

And now we see that the report of communication with this plane is probably false. Which makes sense, because company rules require that no employee talk to the media in the immediate aftermath of a crash or incident. This pilot would/could be in trouble with company

I think it is not true that terrorists always proclaim they did it. Al Qaeda didn’t admit to 9/11, until after we said they did it, IIRC. That is just one example.

No not spooky, pretty normal in fact. Due to traffic air controller is "stairstepping" the craft to his final altitude.

Means the crew was fully cognizant and in control
