The Lee County deputy approached the parked van and told Torockio he was under arrest, but the upset driver simply said, "I am not! Don't you have anything better to do?" The septuagenarian continued to resist arrest while yelling and screaming, "What are you going to do, beat up a 72-year-old man?" When another officer arrived, Torockio was arrested and charged with resisting an officer without violence, failure to obey police and violation of county park rules. His van was later towed.

"Failure to obey police". It's all about making sure we OBEY--- not about defending the constitution, folks.
Stoopit
The cop didn’t ask him to move along first?
Well Yeah. Duh!
“A uniformed Lee County deputy spotted the traffic snarl and approached Torockio to get him to move, but the driver refused.”
No the cop did ask him to move along twice, the first time he said no and the second time he rolled up his window.
this must happen a lot in most downtowns, often the ones with only two lanes.A car pulls out of a very tight spot, and the next car decides to hold up 20-30 cars to back into it.this goes on here quite frequently on naples infamous 5ft ave.and why would anyone with an expensive car risk getting a dent?
Sorry but you don’t get to PARK while waiting on a parking spot. Just because he has nowhere to be doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t.
Flame away.
Simple solution. Direct traffic so that the person in the parked car gets out, the old man gets in, and everyone goes about their business.
Life is tough. Sometimes there's not always a parking spot. Backing up traffic is not safe. I think being arrested is a bit much but in many cases a compromise can be found. Find another parking lot. Have a friend drop you off. Take a taxi.
Simpler solution: don’t block traffic waiting for a parking space. I hate those lurkers, they jam up traffic, volunteer people behind them to get rear ended, and half the time they’re in too close and make it difficult for the person they’re waiting for to get out.
Life is tough, but it’s tougher if you’re stupid. Pretty much sums up Torockio.
must be demorats that always pull this stunt on busy streets.
I want to be on a jury for a guy charged with resisting an officer without violence and failure to obey police. I want it so bad.
No flames here. I agree with you.
The perp
and can you imagine what would happen if sharpton or jesse was in this predicament with a very white cracker policeman?
Normally on a bicycle.
No, that's what Tasers and Glocks are for...
Good one.
