According to the New York Post, New York Citys mad cap Sandinista Mayor Bill de Blasio is about to find out a truth that conservatives have known all along, that bashing the rich can only go so far.
It seems when he is not throwing little children out of charter schools or banning carriage rides in Central Park, de Blasio is on full class warfare mode and is going after New Yorks one percent with a vengeance. It seems that the wealthy elite are starting to have had enough and are getting ready to decamp en masse, to Florida it appears by preference, but presumably also to other low tax, low regulation red states where they appreciate people of wealth.
This will be nothing short of a disaster for the Big Apple. Because of that citys confiscatory taxes, the rich provide a great deal of the money that it takes to fill pot holes and pay the police. That money will be missed if the glitterati are suddenly in Florida and Texas. Perhaps their abandoned mansions can be turned into low income housing, just as the palaces of the nobility were in Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution.

Ditto that. Move your primary residence to the Hamptons and buy a second home in Florida. Keep your liberal vote out of here.
Landlords to the rest of the country: Bargain hunters need not apply. There always was and there always will be hordes of folks from the rest of the nation thronging here to take up the slack. It defies the law of supply and demand.
Keep the rich liberal elite a-holes away from the red states.
Quarantine them in Puerto Rico.
Hey, they’ll fit right in up in northern Idaho! Sure, there’ll be a little transition - our best fashion boutique doubles as a feed store and most of the Broadway shows available are on the double screens at the Boondox Roadhouse between the professional wrestling pay-per-views, but other than that it’s pretty much the same thing. Just remember to scrape your boots at the door. Manhattan, feh - Manhattan ain’t got nuttin’ on us.
Yeah, 10 years tax free, if you go for the scheme to “join” the institution/college THEY allow you to “work with”.
My son, God Bless Him, actually lives and works in that city. He went there after a divorce from a gold-digging Ukrainian girl looking for the bright lights and big city.
He makes damned good money, and he is supremely happy, even with the Democrat theft of his hard earned cash. I tell him to come home, live nice and live easy.
He tells me many liberal women are very good looking, easy. Just plain easy. And that is why he won’t come back home. They’re stupid, but good looking, and he’s having the time of his life - he just doesn’t tell them he’s conservative.
Bill de Blasio “converted” a lesbian and then married her. Doesn’t he get bonus points for that?
:-)
Stock trades that are mere miliseconds apart can make or break an investment company. Physical proximity makes all the difference.
What attracted people of wealth to NYC were the entertainment and artistic venues, the fine dining, the chance to party with the other wealthy, etc.
Well, guess what? Florida has opera houses, plays, fine restaurants, etc, in increasing numbers. Plus year-round warm weather, golfing, boating, and other attractions.
NOOO!
Florida has enough liberals who bring their liberal voting patterns from NY to FL. An acquaintenance of mine recently retired from Long Island to FL. After not having spoken to him for a good 20 years one of the first things he brought up was he didn't want to hear any of my conservative ideas about guns, etc. So NYers realize the economic values of living in a conservative state, they sure don't want it st stay that way.
Probably 99% of that 1% voted for the current fascist mayor, Herr Obozo and their Mussolini cloned governor and contributed to their campaign funds.
#1 If you have a money making interest in the state that is established, you would have to retire or somewhat abandon it.
#2 Rich people may have expensive homes. OK, they move out and who is expected to pay them the millions for their place? Has to be another rich family I would think.
So moving for your benefit requires someone to buy your stuff out in at least the upper end IMO.
WHERE THE DEMS WILL SUCK GAS IS NO COMPANIES WILL COME TO THE STATE TO MAKE NEW HEADQUARTERS AND BRING A NEW TAX BASE.
Business may retire or leave, but the wealth will have a problem going out at some point without losses.
“We need to set up game tags and decide on a bag limit for the New York liberals that try to come here.”
That is good plan. Don’t let them control your home state and local government.
Many of the people paying insane prices are buying second (or third, or fourth) homes. As long as you spend <185 days a year in the city, you are a non-resident and aren’t subject to New York State or City income taxes except upon your actual salary for a job in New York City, and the property taxes they do pay are actually quite modest (for historical reasons, New York City chose to rely more upon local income tax and less upon property tax for its municipal revenue).
Of the rest — well, it has always been crushingly expensive to live full time in Manhattan. No one has ever done it because it’s cost effective. You do it because all your friends are in Manhattan, or because you really hate to commute, or you’re in a two-income family and it’s a pain both of you to commute, or you’re rich as sin.
How dangerous is a city full of mad maxes ?
We don’t need these a-holes in Richmond so go elsewhere. Every time an elitist leaves an area because of taxes they go south and continue their dumbass voting habits and spoil that town. Go North!!
They’ll probably go to Sarasota or Miami, which already have lots of mega-rich people.
It will be our gain. Soon people will be looking to Miami as the arts city and New York - where De Blasio is probably considering forcing the Met to sell its collection in order to pay for his latest redistribution scheme - will look like a moldering Communist Eastern European city.
I’ve read that regret is rife, not only among the people who voted for him, but among the many people who didn’t vote at all (the vast majority). Too bad. Too late.
Detroit with a bad attitude. Effe NYC. Couldn’t happen to a better bunch of obnoxious a-holes.
Do you wish you had bought a cheap condo in Detroit several years ago? Do you think the NYC spending habits will decrease with the falling income? Or just keep spending while digging a deeper hole?
Same could be said for DC...SEND Congress critters back to the I home districts/states...I know...I know...then the Lobbyists would be helpless
