is there a way to do this and do so without signing up for a youtube account?

savevid.com is a site that will download youtube videos to your computer. you still need to be able to put that video onto your dvd and burn it, but I assume you can do that.

You’re looking for “ripping” software.

Is savevid.com safe? I tried to download another program the other day and ended up spending half a day deleting unwanted programs that came with the software...

Use the Firefox browser with the add on "Download Helper". Download Helper allows you to download and save any youtube video in any definition.

Then use Format Factory to convert your videos to DVD format.

To start with, use Firefox browser and get the “Download Helper” addon for it. You can use the addon to download (and convert Youtube) videos with just a click.

Or to convert videos into a format that you can burn to DVD, you could use Any Video Converter.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_any_video_converter
(Your DVD player must also be able to record video)

To burn the video on to a DVD, use a free program like Img Burn.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn

That’s about it.

Try this one. I use it all the time and never have a problem.

YTD You Tube Downloader

Another good one is Audacity to record any audio from any source then export that in MP3 format. I also use Format Factory to convert my youtube music videos I've recorded to MP3.

Or try this:

cut and paste the URL of the vid into http://www.keepvid.com\

I recommend saving as an mp4 file but others may work.
Then free DVDFlick will burn it to disc. If you have a bunch of clips, line them up and then start it. May take awhile to convert and don’t forget of course to click Burn to DVD

I use replay video to screen capture the video, I used to download using realplayer download but it wants to save everything to a cloud now and it is too obtuse for me to use, not very user friendly

If you are running firefox, there's an add-on for downloading flash videos.

I use real player.

It’s free, and very simple to use.

Download youtube videos to the ‘realplayer’ file.

Then copy to whatever device you like.

I had a Youtube downloader, I didn’t use it much but it apparently was blocked.

I have used it without problems. What kind of softward did it give you?

I think once it asked if I wanted to use “ask.com” as a homepage or toolbar for the browser...but I said “no”.

I used different software. But that one also asked if I wanted ask.com as my homepage. I declined, but still got it. Plus I got other programs. It was a mess to clean them all out. Especially Ask, as it hides in other software.

I’ll give the software you recommended a try!

There is a wonderful piece of freeware I use. It's called

FLVto YouTube Downloader

It will download YouTube videos...no account needed. It will also convert the download on the fly to an MP3 file (I just used it to get all 13 parts of The Silmarillion on audio book) or .avi, .mp4, .flv, .mov, .wmv or .wma.

The .wmv and .avi can easily be burned to a DVD with or without authoring software.

Give it a shot. It is nice software.
