Sure, I know where that is, short way from my house. I'll go in the back way as that is the easiest. I used to know the stores in there but they have changed over time. I'll get in there before Sunday as it's forecast to be 30 Sunday night.

I'm glad you know stores in Conroe. Recently, when leaving Walmart, I saw a Starbucks on that shopping strip to the right when coming out of Walmart and getting back on 336 to the right. I wonder how long that has been there? I've got two gift certificates for Starbucks but I thought the nearest one was on Hwy. 105 and I am seldom on that street.

When I'm driving, I see nothing but the road. I bought that car but Bill drove all the time, so after he died, I had to learn how this car works. Turn on the headlights? Didn't know where that was. Turn on windshield wipers? Didn't know how that lever worked. Cruise control? How to set radio or turn on satellite radio? I had to get the car book out to find out how to drive my car. Fill up the gas tank? I couldn't find the cap unlock switch inside the car. Finally found it. Basically, I could use a chauffeur to drive me around. A husband could do that but I don't have one of those. :o) Be glad you have a wife, two people together is always better than one. :o)

“If you would bother to taste the bugs you run across...”

I stopped reading right there - men are so gross.

I've learned to accept that no matter how old my body is, I've got a 12 year old trapped inside. :)

The Starbucks has only been open about a month or two.

“The Starbucks has only been open about a month or two.”

That makes me feel better that it might have been there for years and I didn’t see it.

When I came here, an elderly neighbor told me where to get $10 haircuts on Main St, where the seed store is, the Creighton Theater, a good doctor and other good stuff. We managed to find restaurants on our own, but no good seafood, or BBQ. McKenzie’s has a great burger, but the BBQ comes up short. Stumbled into a good mechanic shop by accident. I flunked the emissions test and went looking. Just happened to pick a good one. I searched the local pawn shops till I found one that I can get good prices from. I got a toothache on a Fri night, so I called evey dentist on the net that said they were open Sat mornings. They lied, after a dozen no answers, I reached one, at his house. His wife said he was at a ball game but listened to my sob story. A few minutes later he called from the game and phoned in two scripts, a pain pill and Pcillan. Been with him since. What we are needing right now is a good eye doctor. I can’t see with glasses or without very good, wife is having eye problems, too.

One neat thing about getting the yard cleaned up today. The guy is a gardener. He’s got a 20ft x 20ft plot, mainly growing tomatos, peppers, squash and pickling cukes. They want to increase the squash this year and will put in some strawberries.

Not a problem. The son of Dr. Wilkerson, our Republican County Chairman, has an ophthalmologist son, Dr. Mark Wilkerson and he did double eye cataracts for me in 2012. His office was in the Woodlands then as Sadler Clinic was still open, but now I think he is even closer into Conroe. Let me look in the latest phone book for his number and location. He is also handsome, so don’t let your wife go there. He is also a Republican Precinct Chairman. I’ll look this up and post it for you.

Dr. Mark Wilkerson is with Avery Eye Clinic now but I think he may still use his location at 9201 Pinecroft Dr., Suite 230, The Woodlands. Pinecroft is to the right off Hwy. 45 before you get into a lot of traffic farther on in The Woodlands. I drove there myself without a problem. The Conroe number is 936-647-2787. The toll free number is 1-888-918-1109.

The Avery Clinic in Conroe is at 400 S. Loop 336 W. at Grand Lake, Conroe. Avery Clinic website is www.averyeyeclinic.com

My eyes are so important to me that I wouldn't let anyone touch them unless I was sure of the doctor. I also know Dr. Wilkerson, our chairman, really well and threatened Mark I would tell his Dad if he screwed up my eyes.

Near the end of my surgeries I went there and there in the office was an older couple who live in these townhouses. His wife's left eye suddenly lost vision, so they had come to Wilkerson as he had done cataract surgery on the husband at some time. I saw her later, and that eye had the virus from her having Chicken Pox when a child - just like most of us had when a child. That virus was in her eye and he treated the eye but it never totally recovered from that. That is the first time I have ever heard of that virus actually becoming active in later life. I had no idea it could manifest itself in an eye.

Herpes zoster. Yes, it can affect the nerves on the face and the eye. It manifests itself as shingles. Very painful. One of the leading causes of suicide in the elderly.

I have been aware of the chicken pox /herpes virus causing shingles. I am planning on getting a shingles vaccination. The pharmacy has a list of shots they can administer. My dad had shingles and also a neighbor lady recently. It is no fun to have and takes a while to get past.

Cooking the dirt removes one more potential harm to sprouts. Ditto washing the trays.

The heating pads we use are the common variety available at Wal Mart pharmacy.
A little care in placement removes any danger. Humid environment doesn't seem to cause problems.

Wife picked the grow lights based on Master Gardener class recommendations.

I should add, we use plug in timers (also from WM) to turn on and off power to the lights and pads.

THE SUN IS SHINING! As soon as I came downstairs this morning, I went outside and removed all the row cover so all the plants could be in the sun.

I guess it rained more after I put the row cover on the plants yesterday evening because they were terribly wet. There has been so much rain out there, I think the garden has its own weather system apart from the rest of the world.

I need the sun to dry the potting soil mix in a bunch of fabric pots so I can plant onions in those pots.

Asked and answered about rhubarb seeds.

I had some of them fall on the ground as I was collecting them, they are busy little buggers sprouting now!

Thank the Lord for the sunshine today.

We are supposed to have a few sunny days next week too. We are going to trim off the dead from our containers and hope that with the rain and warm sun, that maybe some life will sprout from the roots. We are not going to plant the garden yet till we are reasonably sure of no more frost, maybe another ten days.

Yesterday, the forecast said 30 degrees Sunday night. That has been revised to 45 degrees both Sunday and Monday night so no freezing temps. for at least another week and that’s as far as the forecast goes. Perhaps the freezes are over.

I’m transplanting some tobacco seedlings from the second container to larger containers, one in each pot. I’ll do four or five. I want to be able to grow tobacco, to get it to its adult stage.

I carried three bags of household trash to the dumpster - was putting that off until the cold and rain was gone. When you live by yourself, you can do things whenever the mood strikes you.

I'm not seeing any freezing days between now and the average last freeze date. I'm still on track to move a lot of stuff out to the big garden on the 20th.
