There is a lot of nonsense in nutrition. One of the worst examples is the constant propaganda against meat consumption.
Here are 8 ridiculous myths about meat consumption and health.
1. Meat Rots in Your Colon
Some people claim that meat doesnt get digested properly and rots in your colon.
This is absolute nonsense, probably invented by dishonest vegans in order to scare people away from eating meat.
What happens when we eat meat, is that it gets broken down by stomach acid and digestive enzymes. In the small intestine, the proteins are broken down into amino acids and the fats are broken down into fatty acids.
After that, they get absorbed over the digestive wall and into the bloodstream. Theres nothing left to rot in your colon. If you want to know what really rots in your colon, its indigestible plant matter (fiber) from vegetables, fruits, grains and legumes.
The human digestive system doesnt have the enzymes necessary to break downfiber, which is why it travels all the way to the colon. There, it gets fermented (rots) by the friendly bacteria in the intestine, which turn it into nutrients and beneficial compounds like the short-chain fatty acid butyrate (1).
This is what keeps the friendly bacteria alive and many studies are showing that feeding these bacteria properly is incredibly important for optimal health (2, 3). So, meat doesnt rot in the colon. Plants do and this is actually a good thing.
Bottom Line: The nutrients in meat are broken down and absorbed way before they reach the colon. However, fiber from plants does ferment (rot) in the colon, which is actually a good thing as it feeds the friendly bacteria.

Yep. I never season meat before grilling.
@ Harmless Teddy Bear: your method is great for producing wonderful rare buffalo steaks, but for medium or well done, cook over medium hot and turn that sucker over and over like a human rotisserie. Don't let the juices rise up and fall into the fire.
HEB is advertizing artisan lettuce this week. Really? Artisan lettuce???
i can’t help it... i love Whole Foods Market... i would like to work there some day... (when i am done schooling my sons) :)
i am no fan, but the guy is in good shape...
gee ... my apologies.
I knew a spec ed teacher who was all into organic this and organic that so her kids would grow up healthy. She also believed in breast feeding while drunk and couldn’t understand why the baby was lethargic the next morning.
for what?
After a month on Organic meats, produce and dairy, you really do feel like crap after reverting back to say a big supermarket non-organic foods.
GMO and hormone pumped Chicken breasts are the worst after going organic. they’re large and fibrous and leathery.
Leafy vegetables often have a slight chemical ‘off taste’ and kinda rot without showing exterior signs of rot.
Some people have no sense of adventure.
:sniff:
the guy you are not a fan of ... my apologies.
Oh he’s eating meat all right.
RE: Oh hes eating meat all right.
That’s what I’ve always suspected. :)
Kate Holmes knew he was a fake after she married him.
“It is true that Hindu vegans living in certain parts of India do not suffer from vitamin B12 deficiency. This has led some to conclude that plant foods do provide this vitamin. This conclusion, however, is erroneous as many small insects, their feces, eggs, larvae and/or residue, are left on the plant foods these people consume, due to non-use of pesticides and inefficient cleaning methods. This is how these people obtain their vitamin B12. This contention is borne out by the fact that when vegan Indian Hindus later migrated to England, they came down with megaloblastic anaemia within a few years. In England, the food supply is cleaner, and insect residues are completely removed from plant foods (16).”

I tend to believe this. Last I looked, I did not possess four stomachs nor chew my cud, like cows, sheep and goats.
How about you guys?
Clearly eating meat is sanctioned in the Bible. Jesus ate fish and multiplied them for the masses. Lamb is consumed during the Passover.
If he's a red blooded male and not a queer, he's doing it because he thinks it will get him laid. Yes, it does all boil down to that - at least for the young.
Who in the hell would grill a piece of lettuce? It’s not like a palm leaf you’re wrapping a hog in and pit-grilling then using as a dinner plate.
