The Center of Military History at Ft. McNair consistently denies that it has the Roswell aliens and their space craft hidden...

They can't hide it forever. There's a line item on the museum specs that reads "subterranean slime pits, pressurized".

Raising the funds to build the museum has been the main problem. The majority percentage of the cost must be provided by the private sector, and the donations have not been coming in. The Army is providing the land at Ft. Belvoir, provided the good citizens of Virginia don’t begin another “not in my back yard” protest that has cause 3 relocations of the proposed spot in the last 10-15 years.

The totally private Army Historical Foundation is the fund raising organization for the National Museum of the US Army. A museum for the Army was authorized by Congress in the 1800’s but the cavaet with that no govenment funds would be spent.

Being somewhat aquainted with the Smithsonian, their exhibit schedule is based on 6 and 12 month rotations, not monthly.

Also, don’t worry the Center of Military history is having its staff cut by 25% as part of the DoD headquarters reduction over the next two years.

The Registry of the American Soldier

The National Museum of the U.S. Army recognizes the service and sacrifice of the American Soldier at home and around the world, at war and during peace.

The Registry of the American Soldier provides an opportunity for anyone who served in the U.S. Army to have his or her name and service history placed on record at the Museum. If you served, you need to be in the Registry!

You may also register the name of a family member or friend, if they currently serve, or have served in the U.S. Army, or submit someone from the past.

The Registry will be on permanent display at the Museum, and it will be accessible via the internet for those who cannot visit in person.

The Registry of the American Soldier is a publicly submitted listing of those who served in the U.S. Army. There is no fee for submitting a Soldier's name or photo to the Registry. The Registry is not an official document of the U.S. Government.
