HORROR! Cop instantly shoots, kills teen who answered door holding video game controller

A Georgia family is in shock following the death of their 17-year-old son, who was accidentally killed by a police officer who believed the video game controller he was holding was a gun, according to the family’s lawyer.

Christopher Roupe of Euharlee, Georgia heard a knock at the door of the family’s home last Friday night. Upon opening the door, he was immediately shot by a female police officer.

Roupe was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.

The officer broke down it tears upon realizing her mistake, according to The New York Daily News.

She had been making a probation-related visit to the home. She thought Roupe was holding a gun, according to a statement from the police department.

Cole Law, the family’s attorney, said he believes that the officer did mistake Roupe’s video game controller for a weapon. Roupe was holding a remote controller for the Nintendo Wii when he opened the door, according to Law.

Standard-issue Wii controllers are white cylinders, but specialty controllers shaped like guns do exist. It is not yet known what type of controller Roupe possessed. (RELATED: Update: Texas teen faces 8 years in prison over Facebook comment)

Neighbors confirmed that Roupe had a Wii controller, not a gun, according to Law.

“The eyewitnesses on the scene clearly state that he had a Wii controller in his hand,” said Law, according to WSB-TV. “He heard a knock at the door. He asked who it was, there was no response so he opened the door and upon opening the door he was immediately shot in the chest.”

Roupe had plans to enlist in the Marines after finishing high school. He was involved in the ROTC program at his high school.

The officer has been placed on administrative leave while the police department investigates the matter. The family will likely file suit against the department.

It is instructive that if a citizen keeps sharp watch on Police abuse he/she may be branded a “cop hater”. I submit this attitude is valuable to Homeland Security. You may find a recruiter knocking on your door soon. Just make sure when you open the door you don’t have anything in your hands. Not even a dog biscuit.

Cops don’t rat on each other. So many are dirty that once the finger pointing starts everybody is culpable. So it never starts. MAD in practice.

Could you summarize your broad brush characterization in say 50,000 words or less - without your War on Drugs agenda? :-)

I'd like to see a T-shirt saying "Stopped By A Cop And Not Shot" maybe with the following logo.

Could you summarize your broad brush characterization in say 50,000 words or less - without your War on Drugs agenda?

What War on Drugs agenda?
The point isn't the WoD, the point is that the Constitution is utterly ignored in favor of "tradition"1/expedience2/false-moral-superiority3; the War on Drugs is merely the best single-instance of a unified policy that clearly illustrates all these disregards across all branches of government.

Or, given the comment about 50,000 words, are you asking me to write a book?

1 - Precedence, for example, is used in the judaical-branch to ignore the Constitution. The "grunts" in the executive will gladly say we've always done that or we do that over here, too when questioned/challenged on contraconstitutional laws.
2 - Rule by Executive Order in the executive-branch, ruling in favor of exigent circumstances in the judicial, allowing the burearchy (beaurcrats making rule/regulation/"law) to run rampant in the legislative-branch.
3 - “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.” — CS Lewis

Where is the photo of this female cop?

Interesting to note, when agents of the government want to discredit and try people in the media, they have no problem identifying who they are, where they live, their alleged backgrounds, and anything else etc...

I am waiting for someone to do the big hack and turn the tables...It's going to happen.

Too bad — I already have a title (Mutiny on the Potomac) and general outline (though it needs to be fleshed out w/ specific examples from all three branches Fast & Furious and the whole eligibility fiasco will undoubtedly give me enough material).

True. It is unfortunate, but true. Are the whites now seeing what the minorities have been experiencing for years? I don’t think so, but makes me wonder. Perhaps it is the combination of a new breed of LEO’s, new policies, and evolving environment that is more tense. Just don’t know, but it seems to be getting worse. If an LEO knocked on my door right now, I would be in a far more alerted state than a few years ago.

An interesting paradox—why is it that soldiers in combat need to wait to be fired upon, yet in our civilian population, we can be fired on without provocation?

And if we have the gall to protest being fired on with provocation, being beaten to death and otherwise mistreated, we are called police haters by the members of the cops can do no wrong club.

I don’t like the use of public monies and time to give these glorious funeral services to all and any of these so called law enforcement people. I would prefer my money be used for real honor of military service people who actually died for my benefit. I do have an ax to grind with a punk police cadet who read me his riot act against my using my ample back yard to zero in my new pellet rifle.

Is it illegal to have a gun in your home in GA?

Or answer the door with one, especially after dark?

Anyone can say ‘open up, Police!’. Home invaders are notorious for that ruse.

I’ve had my run-ins with Ahole cops. In this day and age if you “get smart” you WILL be arrested. Even if you win in court, you still lose. Cops are out of control.

No one is a winner here. But really, do we all have to go around with our hands in the air these days to keep from being shot by the police?

There have been a few stories recently where the police shot someone who had his hands up and his back to the police. In one instance, the citizen was shot by multiple police officers while he had his hands up.
