Note the verbiage.

True. The title makes it sound absolute, but the contents of the article let on that this isn’t definite.

Proper scientific verbiage to confess doubt, which there usually is.

Exactly - never mind 10,000 years of human civilization just pay attention to a study of 400 brothers - wtf. I’ve come to appreciate the human rights of those engaged in homosexual activities but we sure spend a ton of attention to a ridiculously small, but vocal, minority.

That is typical scientific language that scientists are taught to use. It is meant to reflect the fact that they are speaking of their interpretation of their experimental findings, which can later be shown to be inaccurate, incomplete, or otherwise incorrect. One way to tell if a real scientist, rather than a quack, is talking is by the use of those "hedge words," as I call them. A quack always states everything as incontrovertible fact and never expresses uncertainty, while the scientist always speaks in the language of probability.

The problem with a Gay Gene means that you can treat it. You CAN cure it.

There are also laws on the books (Americans with Disabilities Act) that speak to accommodations for those with debilitating illnesses.

Most importantly, the identification of a Gay Gene would make the classification of homosexuality as an ILLNESS not only appropriate, but scientifically valid.

It means that homosexuality is not normative behavior, but a symptom of a genetic disorder. If the same gene is also linked to pedophilia and other types of fetishes, it means that a promising new therapy may be available to eradicate the world of child rape.

It also solidly classifies ‘gay marriage’ as something in the same general category of ignorant responses to not-well-understood conditions as witch trials.

First, I can’t believe the folks who are on the research are still alive, and still funded. Second, if they succeed in their research, and a vaccine is developed for homosexuality and pedophilia, then the world will be a much better place.
