What movie is this?

Posted on 02/11/2014 2:38:31 PM PST by MNDude

I started seeing this at the beginning (middle?) of this movie, but I never finished seeing it, and I'm not sure of the name of the movie.

There are some westerners (British?) in some African country. The African's take one of the men, put feathers on him and spear him like a chicken.

Another man, they put clay on his body, and then bake him over a fire.

Then, I believe the third guy successfully kills several of the Africans and makes his escape.

Does anyone know what movie this is?

‘Holder’s Dreamscape’ — it’s still in production.

Sounds like an interesting movie.

I read an old book once in college of a guy on his diamond mining adventures in Africa. He would hire one of the local tribesmen (the short guys - forget their names) and explored. Ended up being one mountain range over from where someone else discovered the riches. He always called his guide by some derogatory name - which I have now forgotten. (The book was probably from the early 1900’s).

Giving up on the mountains he then figured out that the diamonds would end up on the beach near the mouth of the big river as it emptied into the ocean. He explored the beaches to the one side of the river. Years later diamonds were discovered on the other side of the river!

It was an interesting book. He was a better writer than he was a diamond miner. Had all sorts of stories of encounters with the natives, animals, etc.

Good flick.

"The picture is pretty brutal for it’s time. There is quite a bit of blood involved, and the animal population of Africa appears to be threatened with near extinction given the frequency withCreating A Crockpot which animals die in the course of the story. The images are not politically correct because the deaths of the safari members at the hands of the native tribe are gruesome and would do little to endear the people of that tribe to the rest of the world. I first saw this movie in the early 1970s and had nightmares over the grim method of execution chosen for one of the hunters in the safari. He is basically trundled up and encased in clay for the purpose of roasting alive over a fire. The thought of the torture is disturbing enough but it was Cookingvisualized in a very realistic way and that made it all the more troubling. Wilde’s character is forced to watch the deaths of his compatriots and then is lead out to a spot where one of the tribesmen shoots an arrow down field and “Man” is given a head start to the spot where the arrow has landed. This is where the chase begins."

You already know the movie name know but from I have read at the start of the chase one of the natives extras got excited fires a spear at Cornel Wilde. That wasn't in the script and it missed him by inches. It surprised all concerned but was left in as it looked so good.

No, that one was from 2013. I believe it was produced in Chicago.

This is an extremely great film! I saw it back in 196 at the theater. Got it on DVD.

I can’t wait till Jesus comes back. Been watching some really gruesome tv and I don’t know how He can watch us killing each other over so much time and not puke.

dude....stop watching gruesome TV for starters. Got a lot of channels to choose from. OR, there is always Big Bang on demand. :) Also, I’d be fine with Jesus coming back anytime now.

There was a white settlers/Indians version of that; I think it was "Run of the Arrow".
