Bristol Palin ✔ @BristolsBlog Follow Dear #WendyDavis, You Can Have a Job AND Kids http://shar.es/UAmoJ @TwitchyTeam
Writing on her Patheos.com blog, Palin called out the Texas State Senator for greatly exaggerating her success story and criticized liberals who are still supporting her:
I know you would rather think about Wendy Davis, so lets get back to her. Shes more your type of woman. She left her kid, husband, made it into a false made-for-tv-movie-type-tale and then demanded that Texans have the right to kill babies. Thats the woman you libs can really get behind!
Let me be clear. I think itd be so nice to have a husband take care of me, and my son, so I could attend school. (Any school let alone, Harvard!)
But the way Wendy Davis did it by getting married and leaving him as soon as the ink dried on his last check is downright pathetic.
Palin, who was a teen mom herself, is right to expose Davis lies. In another you go, girl! moment, she mentioned her moms admirable story as an example that having and raising children while working is attainable:
Is everyone paying attention? This woman is the hero of the Left? A woman whose ambition and ego were so big she couldnt have both a career and kids at the same time.
Gosh, children are sooo inconvenient, huh? Im glad my mother didnt put motherhood on the shelf when she was elected to City Council, then became our mayor, then Governor.
I agree and I would use stronger words.
This post actually pains me. So Bristol would like to be going to a college? (And the Ivy League at that!)
Surely the Palins have the resources to support her going to school full-time, rather than working as an assistant in a dermatologists office.
They may have the resources, but Bristol is working as an assistant in a dermatologist's office in part as a consequence of the decisions she has made. In other words - she is shouldering the responsibility of taking care of her child, rather than having Mom and Dad make the responsibility go away.
A never-married, single mother criticizing a woman for getting divorced is a little bit awkward, too.
The criticism, to me, appears to stem from her announcing the divorce the day after hubby paid off her student loans (using his own 401k money). Further, Davis has made the divorce a milestone in her imaginary life story. Never mind that she chose the divorce, and that she did so just in time to reap the maximum benefit from his contributions to the marriage.
How many men on FR complain about women getting automatic custody? Wendy Davis granted that her husband may have been in a better position to keep the kidsrather than have her take them from him as part of the divorce.
And he subsequently pursued (and won, to my recollection) a restraint from her drinking and using illicit drugs prior to visitation with those kids. I think we agree that custody of the kids were rightfully awarded to the husband, but for her to then use a false narrative on the subject to paint herself as a victim in the situation is highly disingenuous.
Bristol grew up with the privilege of being a governors daughterand yet she didnt handle her advantages particularly well. Davis got herself through law school and then made a name for herself, rather than living on her mothers name.
Davis did the academics, but she hardly "got herself through law school". Her husband's retirement money did that.
Im no fan of Wendy Davis, but much of the country can at least recognize her accomplishmentsand wish the same for their daughtersmore than they admire Bristols hanger-on fame.
Much of the country also recognizes the accomplishment of taking responsibility for one's mistakes, as well. Wendy Davis has done the exact opposite of that.
Bristol Palin became part of the national scene through her mother. She has remained part of the national scene through, in part, her taking responsibility for her own errors. Im a fan of Sarah, but I wince at her daughters being put forth as models of accomplishment.
Class to tHe power of ten!
BUMP For later. :)
Right on!!!
God bless her!
I totally agree with you that Davis is a piece of work, and I’m glad she’s been exposed.
But anyone who can get into Harvard Law can afford it—even if entirely through loans and she would have got a substantial scholarship without her husband’s income anyway—because of elite earning power upon graduation.
Punishing a teen mother by depriving her of a wished-for education is a sad approach indeed, and I find it unfortunate that you are suggesting as much. What’s best for her son? Surely growing up in an intellectual environment with a demonstrated commitment to education would be better for such a son of a single mom.
Bristol was thrust into the public eye in 2008—and she’s worked hard to keep herself there since.
I just don’t think she’s one who should be passing such judgments on personal life decisions like that.
Punishing a teen mother by depriving her of a wished-for education is a sad approach indeed,...Who said she was being punished? She just took the easy way out. Besides, who told her to get pregnant if she wished for an education. I didn’t.
I know this is a rare thing these day when some people are willing ready to push their kids off on someone else so they can "have their dream" but there are a few left with this thing that used to be called character.
Surely growing up in an intellectual environment with a demonstrated commitment to education would be better for such a son of a single mom.
Probably not.
I just dont think shes one who should be passing such judgments on personal life decisions like that.
Why not?
Bristol planned to get married, got pregnant, realized that the father of her child was not the person she thought he was and became an adult.
Wendy never has taken responsibility or become an adult. A druggie drunk con woman is worthy of criticism.
The left excoriates EVERY move the Palin's make. I think it's ingenious how Sarah and Bristol give it right back to 'em.
Wendy makes me want to barf.
Wendy Davis is 50 years old. Bristol Palin is 24. She has 26 years before her accomplishments can be compared to Abortion Barbie, however Palin is far ahead of where Davis was at 24 yrs old. Nice try.
It pained me to see the ignorance along with the attempts to smear, minimize and diminish all things about the Palin family in lurker's original post.
That so called conservatives actually believe the spin of the democrat/media complex, that they still jump to attacking the Palin family based on straws and myths is beyond me. Lurker, you should be mortified (pun, and yes you eventually were MORTified) by your original post......
God bless and keep you all.
I’ve been a solid Palin supporter back to 2007—she was my VP pick before she was McCain’s. She and Cruz are the two pols I trust most today.
But I haven’t had my mind filled with simple Democrat rhetoric. I have my own opinions, thank you.
I disagreed with Palin on illegal immigration until she finally broke free of the McCain position this past year. Truly, I can’t name any issue I now disagree with her on.
I do wish she’d have been more inclined to some sort of bookish think-tank policy study, rather than starring in reality TV shows, and I don’t think her daughters’ pursuit of reality TV and tabloid coverage has helped either.
I’m not Sarah Palin and I will never succeed in contributing a fraction of what she’s already done for politics in our country.
But Bristol’s tut-tutting here made me wince: I already articulated why.
I have already stated I have no appreciation for Wendy Davis and I’m glad she’s been exposed for who she is.
I simply think Bristol is not one to dissect her personal life choices involving education and marriage.
Go, Bristol!
Surely the Palins have the resources to support her going to school full-time, rather than working as an assistant in a dermatologists office.
Maybe they're trying to teach Bristol to be SELF SUFFICIENT, and to learn from her decisions in life, rather than to teach her to mooch off of others for her well-being.
... Bristol grew up with the privilege of being a governors daughterand yet she didnt handle her advantages particularly well. Davis got herself through law school and then made a name for herself, rather than living on her mothers name.
You sound a bit jealous in that first sentence...and judgmental. We've already addressed the inaccuracy of the second sentence.
Im no fan of Wendy Davis, but much of the country can at least recognize her accomplishmentsand wish the same for their daughtersmore than they admire Bristols hanger-on fame.
Windy's fauxcomplishments have already been explained.
Im a fan of Sarah, but I wince at her daughters being put forth as models of accomplishment.
------------
Again...so glad you cleared up the fact that you have no appreciation for Windy, and are a big fan of Sarah's. I was having a hard time figuring that out, but I get it, now.
Bristol was exactly right here. I am sure she will take a lot of abuse for being correct, but that never seems to hold a Palin back. LOL
My how times change, I was never a giant Palin fan, but get real, Bristol has every right to critique Wendy Davis who is a man abusing opportunist and marxist hack.
I would take any Palin over cheesy slut Abortion Barbie Wendy Davis.
