I’ve been a solid Palin supporter back to 2007—she was my VP pick before she was McCain’s. She and Cruz are the two pols I trust most today.
But I haven’t had my mind filled with simple Democrat rhetoric. I have my own opinions, thank you.
I disagreed with Palin on illegal immigration until she finally broke free of the McCain position this past year. Truly, I can’t name any issue I now disagree with her on.
I do wish she’d have been more inclined to some sort of bookish think-tank policy study, rather than starring in reality TV shows, and I don’t think her daughters’ pursuit of reality TV and tabloid coverage has helped either.
I’m not Sarah Palin and I will never succeed in contributing a fraction of what she’s already done for politics in our country.
But Bristol’s tut-tutting here made me wince: I already articulated why.
I never thought she bought the McCain position, I think she didn't change as much as she was pegged by a few jealous FReepers (aka the pissant posse) when she gave some very political (also clearly not determinate of her views) answers when she had to represent McCrazy. People who say she changed did not read the stuff clearly at all. I had lots of fun with one particular poster who was shocked, shocked, that she wasn't pro-amnesty. He had believed it for so long in spite of the evidence that he still is apoplectic he wasn't right.
My own personal belief is Gov Palin is NOT going to run in 2016, no evidence, just think her path is different. I'm hoping she can become Sec/energy or some other cabinet position in a conservative administration. It's her strength.
AS to Bristol, this thread's subject, she not only has every right to point out the lies and fabrications of Wendy Davis, but the creds for it as well. I think your wincing is a sad spectacle. She made a mistake, she paid for it, is coming out on the other side with character, unlike most democrats who can lie, steal and cheat with every breath, she's rolling along, becoming an adult, and that she would "tut" over this is totally natural, and totally right, and more than just okay.
I think your original wincing was wrong, not recognizing the total depravity of this woman Wendy Davis, just how big a fraud she was to put herself up as some kind of role model. Bristol hit her correctly, that more people who consider themselves as conservatives don't is simply a shame. Pushing against her instead of the lying Davis is what the MSM/demonrat complex wants.
